Diablo Power Puck Problem

I have found that when my truck sits 3 or more days without being ran that it is real hard to start and sometimes won't for a while. It had done this over the winter when it sat for a few days and i blamed it on the cold, but now it sat for a week in warmer weather and would;nt start again. It reminds me of a gasburner that is flooded out?? I turn it over and it somewhat fires and i have found that if i hold the pedal halfway down and keep tryin that it will FINALLY start and when it does it send all kinds of white smoke out the tailpipe. I have tryed pushing the primer button before and it seemed to only make it worse? It has never failed to start when it is driven daily? Any ideas what the deal is? I appreciate the help.

Definitely seems to be fuel leaking down. Every time my fuel filter loosens up I get hard start situation and white smoke.

The return fuel line is the number one cause, but a bad return fuel valve(overflow valve) , lift pump (transfer pump) fuel filter letting air in and injector pump going bad can cause these symptoms also.

I notice if I push on primer button enough I can hear my overflow valve open and closing (squeaking sound).
