Oh yeah... when I got home I had a full on stiffy when I saw that box woth the SBC logo on it... . no more TC impersonating clutch for me... ... SAM ARE YOU READY TO DO SOME WRENCHING?

Woohoo, mine just showed up 2 minutes ago! :D Time to schedule some more BOMBing!

This thing came with it all. . . alignment tool, roller pilot bearing, and hydraulic throwout bearing :)

I'm Jealous

I want one too, but I have to finish the house for the dodge first(56'x32' pole barn). Got to save some $$$$$ and quick so I can get the clutch and continue BOMBINB. :D  :p :D  :p

Jealous and Broke

Diesel Freak & Vaughn-

I look forward to reaching that stage, but it better be a few months! As a complete kit, what's the price for SBC?

BTW, how much clutch slippage are you guys seeing with the ETH/DEE after mods with stock clutch?

DYNO DAY tomorrow, it'll be nice to see baseline numbers to look back on as well as some already mighty CTD's!

here is the funny thing... Vaughn has DD2's and CPC fueling box... he has not slipped his clutch

I have 275's and a CPC fueling box... . my clutch was toast the first time I went WOT at 1900 RPM in 6th gear.

either I have a weak clutch ot Vaughn has a weak motor.....

I agree Uncle Joe!!!! I thought maybe he was going to mount his SBC (small block chevy) in the bed to operate his lift pump... ..... boy am I dissapointed ??????????

That's what I get for hanging out in the over valved forum:D !!!!!

Well, Diesel Freak may like to think I have a weak motor, but it did put down 323hp & 661tq to the rollers before adding the CPC ;)

It's not like I haven't tried, believe me, I've made use of my box and injectors! Even towing a 4000lb boat accelerating WOT onto the freeway hasn't been enough to break it loose :) . But it is at the very ragged edges of what it can withstand I'm sure. The nice thing is I may be able to sell a very good stock clutch that has not ever slipped.

This clutch looks very quality, the material is very metallic. I was pleased to see it come with all the accessories too (the throwout bearing is not hydraulic like I saw above (doh!).

Actually it is considered a hydraulic brg. . It is not an internal hydraulic but it is meant to run continuously. It is a self centering brg. that is a angular contact design (OEM). There are others on the market that are a little less expensive but are not near the quality. The material that you are looking at is called feramic (solid gray iron). It does not have any metallic, brass or ceramic in it.

I hope all works well for you and if you have any questions feel free to call me at any time.

Vaughn, the difference in climate may have something to do with it. Or it could be my real heavy foot. I just love that torque curve from 1600 to 2200

Got mine with friday afternoon Brown Truck delivery. . :D:D

need it in now !!!!

anything 4th gear on up it slips with ANY amount of expressive go button

My stock clutch only lasted 600 miles after the dd3's went in. The first time i smoked the clutch I was just getting on the freeway, had it at about 1600 rpm, stomped the throttle to get out of the way of a truck, next thing you know, engine revving truck not accelerating. oops. I have 7000 miles on my SBC, and i love it. Only thing that smokes now is the tires, (have to wear out the old ones before wife will let me get the weld wheels and BFG's) lol.

well, I may just send it to a local shop and have it installed. Time and garage space is scarce these days, I just do not have the room or the tools to do it myself. I have been calling around and asking lots of questions to see who is the most knowledgable. looks like it will go in next week. After that I feel the BOMB bug will bite again.

Hey Diesel Freak I see you are going to have it done. I could not wait if mine was sitting here. How much did they quote you? Are you going to have them install the pilot bushing from SBC ? Let me know how it goes as my arms are giving me fits again. Sam

so far the price quotes are $300 to $750. I got the pilot bearing not the bushing, I am going to have them install all the parts I got in the kit and then return the old ones to me. I wil post some pick of the toasted clutch disk and pressure plate for everyone to see.

IT'S IN!

I dropped my truck off at the shop today at 7:30. It was done by 2:30. The shop manager absolutely loved the clutch feel and the power of my mildly BOMBed Cummins. He is now thinking of trading in his FlowerPoke on a Dodge. :D

Now for my initial impression. This clutch ROCKS! And no slipping! Pedal pressure is slightly more (if at all) than stock. There is a slight bit of chatter whem engaging the clutch in seccond gear, but only if I get stupid. I have to adjust my driving habits a little, but I am VERY happy with the unit. South Bend Clutch... ... you have a very good product here.

OLD Clutch Pics

here are pics of the old preasure plate and clutch disc. There was a lot of dust in the assembly, and some hot spots on the pressure plate. No wonder it was going south.
