TDR / Bad Influence

I have a chance to buy a Porter-Cable 690 Router for $146 with free shipping. Is this a good model and do you think the price is right?

Doc

i have a porter cable router and i am quite happy with it. i can't remember what model it is, but i think it is a 3/4hp that accepts 1/2" & 1/4" shank bits... i use it very little, but it works real good. i just wish it was a plunge router. that is my only complaint

Router

Got one. Love it, been using it for a number of years. A couple of years ago a bought the plunge base for it. Haven't used that yet.

I keep it in a table. I prefer to hold on to the wood and have the router securely locked down. Very dangerous tool, but can't live without one.

lschultz - I did come across a web site that has plans to build your own coffin. They even have all the hardware and the stuff to do the upholstery inside. Did you know they even have bed springs to lay on? I got quite a kick out of the thought of making my own coffin, but Mrs Doc told me she'd have to kill me if I did .

Doc

Doc, I have a 690 also, it is very nice, and haven't had a single issue with it. I have the d-handle version, the only way to go IMO.

You guys mention coffins, I volunteered to build one for my 92 year old grandmother, (she asked, when the time comes of course) as proud as I am to grant her this wish, I'm sure not looking forward to it. :(

Say Doc when you start making those caskets are you going to give the TDR discounts?Or maybe one of those group buy?:D
