Work truck flies when stone cold

Need VW Fuel Injectors

Don't let wife read this!!!!!

I drive a 1997 International 4700 at work, it has the DT466E motor in it with a 7 speed trans and wieghs in at about 35K on average. When its cold outside(below 40*) the thing has a HELLUVALOT of power for the first mile or so. I can pull out on the road and roll black smoke from under the truck and its gone. Turbo spools right up and it flies(I know its not good on a cold motor lol). I would guess its 0-40 is at least 10 seconds quicker that way. It won't do it when its been plugged in either. And after about a mile its back to a cold 210hp 466 motor.

Any idea what causes this?? At 35K the thing is way underpowered... 0-68(top speed) can be at least a mile when heavy. Any ideas on any sensors I could unplug or fool to make it think its cold all the time?? Naturaly I don't want to drop any money into because well. . its not mine :D. And our other two trucks will barely move when they are cold lol. Just curious TIA

We have one truck that is a mechanical pump and its a TURD until high gear. Even though its at least 12K lighter it can't catch the heavier trucks until around 40mph.

Whats wierd is it is not a gradual decrese in power... its instant. Hell if I could get it this way all the time I might be able to get on the highway without p*ssing people off :D

Check out the Ford site

340, the Ford guys do a cheap mod with a resistor that fools a sensor in some way and may do what you want. I was doing a little research for a friend who has a 96 PS and found out the IH corn binder engine have a lot of cheap hp possibities. Don't remember the details, but you might go over to the other side and check.

I did that one.......

I have tested the mod your talking about. You splice a resister into the engine oil temp sensor to reduce the temp that the pcm sees. I have lowered the temp down to about 100 degrees and little difference is actually made. On the dyno, this mod made nothing.

Another mod guys are doing is splicing in a resistor into the injection control pressure sensor. This tricks the pcm into thinking the pressure is 200 or so psi lower. I have done this results with fair results. Dyno runs show a 5-15 hp increase depending on value of the resister. But it's still not like the cold engine experience.

I have some software and a laptop that I use in mine. I can read all the sensors and such things going down the road. I'm trying to figure out this very thing. Today was the first time I tested in the truck. I have variable resisters tapped into the ICP and EOT sensors that I can adjust in cab.

I'm starting to believe that the cold power has something to do with the engine oil actually being cold and/or the fuel. If I figure it out, I'll post my results here.
