Competition My New Turbo....

Probably spooling up. A lot of the quicker Buick GNs will make timetrials by themselves and set there for what seems like an enternity before launching with the wheels in the air.

let's be diplomatic for a change...pass the peace pipe, will ya?

Greg,

That's one sweet timeslip, man. As was said in the other thread - you're a nice guy on the phone... but as you can tell - your posts on here did NOT convey that at all.

As far as I'm concerned... I've buried the hatchet. Who's next? I'd really like to see all of us get back to trying to go fast with diesels... and leave the politics out of it. I'm guilty of it a lot and I apologize for that.

You're still going to catch a lot of crap for being affiliated with Dr. P... but that's all in good fun. :-laf (We all give each other a load of crap on a regular basis. )

Although I do appreciate your comment and point of view :) , I'd gladly put a hitch on the Pavement Princess if I had an 8 second diesel-powered rig to tow behind her. I'd just have to run in two classes... :D

Comp, I would love to see a video of this run (or any similar run), and a pic of the truck. I have not followed any other threads about it, but thought I saw a pic; is it a Chev body? What I like the most is that you're running at NHRA events, not just hitting the local 1/8 mile or diesel-specific events. I think that's the best way to draw attention and respect in the racing world as a whole.

Although your antlopticla opinion wages inferences curving antispevistical

thoughts, I do have to agree w/ Stewart's geometric theory.

Thanks guys, it means a lot. We should move forward from this point, NHRA is very up on the diesel deal, with many possible ramifications coming. A lot was riding on that one pass, and I was on total edge worrying that something small would mess it up. On Friday after I lost in eliminations, they asked if we would make an exhibition pass on Sunday. I never imagined what it worked in too, I was in the staging lanes before the semi finals getting ready when they had oil down and delayed me till the final round. I knew the stakes were high as we rolled out from under the tower after the national anthem, to a packed house of 106,000 people ever eye on us. The reaction time was funny as I had ask for a sportsman full tree, they dropped a . 500 pro tree on me, forcing me to wait as I had a boost leak on the high side and a trans brake that was not going to hold at my normal launch boost. Therefore, I waited until the tree activated, Knowing that if it rolled the tree it would have no timed me as in the pass on Thursday. I have to tell you I never expected that pass, with, as much not up to par on the little truck. I know that a seven second pass is possible in the next year.

oh yes, but yet another line that we may never be able to figure out. :D

Greg,

Sorry I had to cut our call short. I'll get back to ya to discuss a few things.

As I said though, awesome pass. Incredible pass actually. This is getting fun.

For those that don't think this was an achievement and that it's a light weight tube chassis truck and it's so easy. Just remember, this pass went from 0 to 154 mph in under 9 seconds. In order for this to happen, this motor HAS to be making power way up in the rpm range without loosing so much low-end that it cannot leap out of the hole. This had to be done without the aid of NOS per NHRA rules. I personally think this was a job well done. :p

Greg, that's a very nice truck, and I've been hearing good things from different "camps" (not always the case in this competitive arena).

Do you have a lot of experience racing? There are some gasser drivers out there who feel they'd eat you alive just knowing how a diesel runs. I suppose there is some truth to this, but where there's a will, there's a way, right? :)

Do you ever launch without boost? The staging is the tricky part; if you're going for quick ET's you need boost, but against tough racers it probably hurts you...

Also, do you know what your racing schedule is for the winter?

I'm just happy it's a Cummins! I don't see any PSD powered street class tube trucks or PSD powered dragsters out there making record setting times!

Your truck and times are just crazy I would pay the fee at the door just to see it make one pass down the track.

Here is a pat on the back... . :-laf
