Happy Birthday FireChick

Well, lets see...

I have been busted burning up the goodyears at a speedway gas station. I was into 3rd gear with the smoke a rolling when Smoky pulls in with the lights and sirens a goin. I was maybe 19 and thought that I was safe on private property. Not so. Reckless operation and 6 points later I thought I was shurely out of a job. I drove even back then and already had 4 points.

I got a good one coming back from tennessee. Was northbound on I-75 near williamstown in Ky. Rolling 155mph in a 65 is not looked upon kindly in those parts. Road was clear, I had a CB, but there was no rigs ahead. I lost my license for a few months there.

Them Oldsmobile Big Blocks will get you in trouble!!

Mondello Rules!!!!

Oh- I was doin about 100 on westbound I-74 coming up on i-275 and came up on a bear really fast. He was already past the ramp, but locked them up and started backing up. I took the ramp and hammered it to Blue rock rd. (with the bear coming) and took the subdivisions back home.

Did not get caught, but I did get some, as this turned on the lady that I was trying my darnest to impress.

I'll never forget that one.

Speed

Coming down the Grapevine north bound,I was caught doin 105 in a 65 zone. Got a ticket for 75 in a 65. I was in an Oldsmobile Starfire 88? (Back in 75)

Sad part is, we did things as young adults and well, kids today go to jail for it... It might be the right thing but, most of us are upstanding adults in the community now... Heck, our Presidents have done more serious things and skipped...

Do you think the judicial system is to harsh on minor offenses for our youth?

I think the individuality of determining the outcome is gone from our police forces... Everything is cut and dry now more or less...

Thanks and be safe all...

I've got a couple tickets, and stories to tell. My most "popular" ticket is,, "Exhibition of Acceleration". I came around an intersection, and there were cars stopped at the light,, but nobody else around, so I took a right on green, and in 3rd gear laid in to the throttle till it hit the floor, and then some,,,, well,, all four of those rear dual tires went up in smoke and my Dodge was about 45* to the road,, being 18 I didn't let up one bit,, I only got a bigger smile, and kept the hammer down, once those tires spun until they couldn't spin any more, I let up and was then doing only 5-10 MPH over the speed limit, and was slowing down, and it was then I saw "the lights" in my mirror, I whipped into a store, and went in before the cop spotted my truck,, I was walking around in the store, when they called the owner of the "Dodge" to the front,, well, long story short :) I got a HUGE butt chewing, and threatened to be taken to jail, liscensed revoked, and how I almost killed everybody within 500 yards of the intersection. He then said he called a wrecker to tow my truck to the impound, and to call my Mom or Dad and see who got there first,, If Mom got there first, I could go home,, if the wrecker got there first, I was goin' to jail,, well, Mom got there first, and I later found out he never did call a wrecker, I didn't drive my truck for a week after that, just 'cause I knew they'd be "watching"

I've done alot more serious things and haven't been caught, but I've done little things and got the 5th degree... .

I did a donut on a Main road once,, didn't get caught, nearly totalled my truck, didn't get caught,, did 110MPH in a 35MPH zone (for 2-3 miles), didnt get caught,, BUT I did 78 in a 70 and got busted, and 65 in a 60 and got busted,, I've been lucky,, I only have one ticket and that was for a failure to control speed.

I'm a descently safe drive, but sometimes I have to put a sign up on my back window that says,, "Gone Crazy, back in 2 hours"

BTW, as for being tuff on kids, I think most deserve the strictness, and severity of laws because of the lack of respect they have for Authorities. 'Nuff said.

Merrick N Cummings Jr

I got a warning ticket in (well actually a mile south of the city limits) Hico TX by a local yokel for having blue dot tail lights. Are you sure officer, they were a factory option from 1929-1957? :D

Actually he threatened to take me to jail for having a scoped Thompson Contender single shot break open pistol in a hard case, buried under all the other hunting stuff in the cab. It was misting when I left home. I deer/turkey/hog hunt with it.

My Mom lives in New York State, Utica. I live in New Jersey. I have had to make a few fast turn arounds lately, up and back same day, 300 miles one way.

I was coming back in the aftrenoon, down the NYS Thruway. The Cummins was very "happy". Got pulled over for 82 on the NYS Thruway. The officer was kind of fond of the truck and let me go. I was very thankful.

3 speeding tickets in the year that I have had my CTD. Thank goodness for my CDL. "Since you have a CDL I will just write you up for a sign violation, no points. " If they would have wrote me up for the actual violation I would be walking by now.

66 in a 55

56 in a 25 pulling my camper:rolleyes:

97 in a 65 I-80 and 79 split... ... in the tri-axle dump

Oh, and the infamous... ... "You need heat shields on those stacks"

I can vouch for Merrick's Donuts... I have pics of them, and WOW!!

As for me, Let's see... where to start. .

Last day of high school, we all go to party at a campsite on the Guadalupe River. I drink from 3:10, when school let out, till whenever I decided I needed to take a 'nap':D ... . I wake up after several friends try to mess with me, thinking it is another friend, I start telling him to "F" off, and to get lost, and all the rest of the fill in the blank words you can think of! After realizing it was the Comal County Sherrif's Dept, I was taken to the other party with about 50-60 other drunks, but now we were behind bars. It was actually fun, having choir practice all night long. Well, that ticket was for Minor In Posession of alcohol, got my picture taken and posted in the New Braunfels Paper, needed $50 to get out of jail, and had $36 on me. BUMMER!

2 months later, I am camping again, and taking people to drop them off... I have 14 people in the truck, and get a ticket for no seatbelt.

A year later, we are camping, and as I am pulling into a campground, I get cops drawing guns on me, and my passengers, and I are freaking out... They said there was a truck like mine who was stealing stuff, and what not. . come to find out it was a BLUE, not BLACK ½ ton GASSER, not DIESEL 4X4, not 2WD like mine... must be some dumb cops. .

My most recent one was showing someone what a PDR HX40 and all the toys can do in a 40 MPH zone... 67 in a 40! I got off that ticket, because my uncle is a police officer, and knew the guy who wrote me the ticket... These are just a few, but I could sit here all day long!

Let's see here...

About 5 years ago I had it all come down on me in a years time.

Fleeing a police officer, contested that ticket in court and it was dropped because the cop forgot to put his lights on. I doesn't get any better than that.

Destruction of private property, judge told me to fix the property I damaged. It was about a 2 acre vacant field in town that had a small pond. Me and the boys from work used it for a mud pit. I got stuck one night and someone got my plate number. Two days later they called me up. Good thing was my grandpa owned a 1 ton dump truck... I just loaded it up with sand from a local gravel pit and dumped it near the pond. They called that "good enough. "

51 in a 25, cop told me that I would lose my license and that double the limit could get me charged with vehicular manslaughter. Ended up contesting the ticket and it was lowered to 35 in a 25.

Then there was inattentive driving. Fell asleep behind the wheel and hit a telephone pole. Pole broke off and fell on the truck and I really couldn't go anywhere. Four months later the state patrol issued me a ticket, didn't bother to contest it because it was only $61. I've seen the MN State Patrol issue them a lot higher than that and didn't want to press my luck.

After that year, the local city and county boys knew my trucks really well. Did I mention I've been pulled over 21 times and I've only been driving for 6 years?

I had a hot running 90 Chevy 1/2 ton 350 and a 91 Camaro at the same time when I first got out of school. The only thing I ever got busted in "that" Camaro was for 97 in a 55 running right beside of my friends probe on the way to Niagra Falls to see the "ballet". Big lecture and $100 fine.

The worst was in the 1/2 ton. We were screwing around one night down town in the truck. One of my buddies in behind me was chirping his tires. He finally forced me to lay down some rubber of my own. I kinda held the brake and floored it. Smoked the tires for about a block before I had to stop for a red light. I gotta add here that the truck had duals that were incredibly loud. Anyhow, when I stopped at the light, I was looking back at the cars behind in the cloud of tire smoke and the two black marks for about a block when I noticed the cop. He was walking down the side of the street doing foot patrol and I never saw him.

He wrote me a nice fine for something stupid along with a small lecture. Then he says, "Actually, that was pretty cool. Did you powerbrake it down the street the whole way or did you just hammer on it?" Pricks. :D

A guy that looks just like me got nailed for 74 in a 25 on a motorcycle that looked alot like mine in Wilmington NC. I think he was still runnin up through the gears when the blues came on. Didn't have motorcyle endorsement on the liscence yet either. The cop wasn't impressed. Delivered pizza to some important judge in the county on election night the D. A. paid the tab, and somehow the conversationed bailed my butt out in court the next week.

Same guy got pulled over in a state forrest doing 80+ in my CJ-7. Officer said he wouldn't have gone so hard on me cept I had just come over a raised portion of the road and when he hit me with the radar all four wheels were in the air. No ticket though. Driver was a teen at the time and the cop scared the schnitz outa the driver sufficiently.

Both of the speeding tickets I got were in Kentucky. First one was in Paris on the 4 lane around town. I was trying to pass a guy who decided he was going to speed up as I got beside him. The road started to go from 4 to 2 lanes and I put the hammer down in my old Chevy pickup. Something like 71 in a 50 mph zone. Next one was in Millersburg late at night. Coming out of town the speed limit goes from 35 to 55, so I start speeding up and just so happens a cop is sitting in somebody's driveway on the 35/55 line. 51 in a 35. Both of those tickets were around a $100 each. The highest fine was $109 here in Texas. Driving without a seatbelt. That cop was pretty cool about it, and we talked for a few minutes about "old people" being the worst offenders for seatbelt violations.

I support the cops being tougher on kids now. If they could only ensure that the younger offenders had to pay for the violations instead of their mommy and daddy, then maybe that thing called responsibility would be more common. I had to pay for my tickets as a young poor college student and deal with my old man too. I guess you got to raise a little hell if you want to get to heaven.

142 in a 75 MPH zone. No, i wasnt driving unfortunately, was sitting co-pilot in a sweet Camaro SS. Took the Highway Patrol who was going the other direction prior to the chase almost 19 miles to catch up to us. We never saw the cop and had just popped the NOS bottle and bumped up our speed to 160 something before backing out of it. Cop was real cool and admired my buddies car. The two swapped stories of mods as they both drive the same car. Cop gave him a ticket for reckless driving and told him to back out of it some. Also said "ya know if this goes to court I have to show up, if I dont show you will get off completely, I hate court. " He winked and then walked off, that was my buddies sign to go to court! Got off scott free!

You all speak of these things called speed limits. What are they? :-laf

Note: One year and eight days until I'm back in the states. Oh dear, speed limits again. :{

Why?

Why did I feel that one coming? OK, details. Three in the morning, deserted highway, young and foolish, and late for work. Old 71 Chrysler Town and country, 440, slightly worked, and a heavy foot. Topped the hill coming into town, there was the local fuzz. He was setup to grab some local drunks coming out of the bar up the road, instead he gets me.

At least I wasn't smoking out some little kids, and had the cahones to stop, take my medicine. :p
