Would this be a good deal?

There's a guy around here who is into selling a few cars and parts. He's got a 93 d350 cc dually for sale. It's got the auto and 274,000 on it and has set for a while. It's in decent shape. It rusting along the bottom of the cab. I asked him what he wanted for it. And it'd gonna need new tires. He said he'd like to get $3000 out of it. Would this be a pretty good deal? If it is, I might see if he'd trade my W250 for it. I'm going to go back next week and take a closer look at it. Is there anything in particular I should look for? I think the truck's stock, but where on the pump do I need to look to see if it's been turned up? Thanks

I have bought a truck that was very rusty for a thousand. I have bought one with a dead injection pump for a thousand. But a running truck that only has a little rust will bring (in some places) more than 3000. I was helping get a d350 off the dead list over on the interstate and he said that he had paid 4500. The truck was probably worth that. He didn't keep the oil level in the transmission up to required and it died.



So yes, the truck bears close looking. I have noted that the prices are actually rising on our trucks. And they should in my opinion. For a good operating truck.

PS that does not mean I will pay more for a dead truck or a real rust bucket. Be sure you know what to look for.

I got the 92. 5 in my signature for $850, but it also needed injectors, front end rebuilt, rear axle replaced or fixed (I opted for replacement with a Dana80) A/C recharged, and a few other bigger things- I'll have $4000 in it by the time it's all said and done. As long as it runs good, I'd look closer at it. I'd definitely want some boot money if you're trading in a 4x4, even if it is a 3/4ton.
