Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) would this be an answer to lift pump problems?

trash the current fuel tank and have a fuel cell put in the bed behind the cab, I guess similar to those auxillary tanks. This looks like it would create very close to a gravity feed to the lift pump which should take a lot of strain off the system.

Its an excellent idea and I have been wanting to do that for almost a year but when I had my tank built to fit under the tool box I did not make all the propper provisions or connections to the tank, I may still do It though, then I will use the OEM tank to transfer to the aux tank.

1) aux tank must indicate level in cab

2) spillback of hot fuel from the Cummins must also go to the aux tank

3)fuel feed from aux to Cummins Filter housing

4) Fill nozzle on aux tank so you can transfer from oem tank

5)still need a transfer pump from oem tank to aux( samr problem as we have now) only the Cummins is not dependent on its integrity.

6)oem level indication will work for that tank.





maybe the best way would be to have 2 total seperate systems ... ... ... you would have to have 2 valves to switch for fuel in and fuel out .

That's what I have been trying since new and it may help but not solve the problem.

I'm on lift pump #2 and it's the latest one available. So far about 20k and it seems to be losing a little top end presure but the WOT pres is unchanged so far.

My tank is a stainless tool and fuel with gravity feed to the selector valve then to the lift pump. It has an open vent up high under the bed rail to stop any neg pres in the system.
