Chevy is rolling out some inlines this year. They say its because of drum roll ... ... ... ... ... better mileage and better longevity. Inline sixes are naturally balanced and will deliver better fuel economy than a v6 or v8. Now they can build inlines that make 300 hp. Im sold already.

Izuzu makes good inline diesels...

would I trade my Cummins for one? NEVER!

but I'd take an inline Izuzu w/ an iron head over a Powerhoax or a Duracrap any day!!

There was an ad in last night's paper from an area Ford dealer who had at least 20 of the '03 6. 0L F-250/F-350 low-mileage trucks with prices in the mid-to-upper $30k range.

Wondering if these are buy backs, off lease trucks, or from people who just got sick of their 6. 0 after one year? Those prices seem insane since you can buy a new Cummins Dodge for about the same price with current factory incentives.

First of all the powerchokes and the duramax are considered light duty diesel motors, while the ctd is a medium duty diesel motor. The ctd is also a million mile motor, they suggest a overhaul at 300k but thats in chasis. Most people will admit the other motors have the ability to run faster but if you want to drag race buy a muscle car if you want to go to work buy a ctd. I have the unfortunate opportunty to drive Ford powerchokes at work and I have learned enough about them to now I don't want one. One they have glow plugs, no good. Always something wrong with one of them, not for me my ctd purrs right along and gets 20mpg.

I am not a Ford guy at all so I guess that makes me biased. Growing up with a father that was a GM fan I was surprised when he bought a Dodge in 98. He test drove the Chevy 6. 5 and Ford 7. 3 and liked the low end grunt of the Cummins. I based my decision on that and just by looking under the hood. I would hate to have to turn a wrench under the Ford or Chevy.

A friend got a "good deal" on a used 2003 6. 0 Ford in May. I was thinking buyback:rolleyes: He likes the power and the fuel economy compared to the V10 he had before but lately he has been complaining about the 6. 0 running hot. Time will tell.

I will admit that I think the Ford F-250 and F-350 are nice looking trucks. It's just that I don't want to be put in the position of having to lie to someone when I tell them why a powerstroke is better than a Cummins.

This pic I believe is of the older Powerstroke. There's a newer photo (somewhere I couldn't find) of the 6. 0 Powerstoke connecting rods as well as a Duramax connecting rod next to the Cummins con rod. It's still the same story.

I used to carry a copy of the photo with me and present it at opportune times. I've also been known to post one by the diesel pumps. :D
