Anyone ever taken an Emode IQ test?

Springtime on the prarie

Given the ability to project yourself into the future, but not to return, would you do so? Would you go if you could take someone along?

Get in line

Doc are you thinking about stepping into the future and not coming back:) Please take Whitmore:eek: with you so yall can:-{} I am just pondering on this but what would the TDR be like if we were not honored with ya'lls presence.

I think I'd rather go back 100 years and see what our great country was like back then. Especially Colorado.

I'm with klenger, I'd rather go back than forward. The future holds too many uncertainties.

I think there are just as many uncertainties in the past. All in all, I think I would go 1000 years into the future. Just for grins. I'd be a real anachronism.

I would like to go 3-5000 years ahead, just to see where humanity got to, and how bad some idiot goofed up our first contact with other intelligent life (I question the intelligence of life here, though). I would also request that I be acclimated to current technology and events, lifestyles, etc. Space travel has always fascinated me somewhat; or at least the idea of it- seeing what is out there and how different stuff is. I would miss my Ram, though. Who knows, there might be something better by then.

klenger- I think you'd be transported directly to where you were destined to go before you made the time warp.

Cue Spooky Music...

To help my brethren on the TDR, I have risked life and limb in selfless sacrifice to pierce the mists of time and tell you what lies in store for the man who dares leap forward 100 years to the future.

In 100 years...

... Homes may only be built on the roofs of the Wal-Marts that will carpet the entire United States

... ... President Hillary Clinton, having cheated death via a deal with the devil, will pass new legislation imposing term limits of not more than 10,000 years.

... To offset wildly popular universal welfare law, President Clinton enacts changes to Social Security law - retirement age pushed back to 3800. Remaining 7 workers protest and are charged with hate-crimes for offending sensibilities of the disadvantaged

... The Washington Monument in Washington, DC will be dwarfed by a 750 foot spire made entirely of Cummins B series engines, dragged there by diesel enthusiasts who object to being forced to drive the mandatory Hondota Segway 88-valve transporter

... Scientists excavate mummified body of vaguely humanoid creature wearing "TDR Rocks" t-shirt, still seated at ancient computing device. Incredibly, posts are still flowing from the ancient machine

That's pretty good Mike. :D

I think it would be fascinating to be able to go forward or back in time.

I would prefer back myself. Sometimes I think I'm way out of sync with the world today, I couldn't imagine how the world would be in the future, and probably wouldn't like it anyway. Cool new toys notwithstanding. :p

No future for me; I am afraid Mike has it about right.

I'm with Ken and illflem, but guys lets go back to when it was really pristine-------400 years would be about right. Tell me how and I'll go tomorrow; no return ticket necessary.

I think Doc is caught in the middle. He is hear but he ain't. He is there but he ain't. So where is  Doc?

Interesting Post, Doc

Funny you should post this question when I'm in the middle of reading Dean Koontz' novel, "Seize The Night. " I'm not a Sci-Fi enthusiast, but I like his books, and no way would I want to go forward in the middle of reading this piece. Talk of new strains of viruses, time travel, mutant life forms, etc. . . . too eerie for me.

I'll just stay right here and gripe about how good it "used to be" before I crossed the generation gap.

Going back in time would probably be much easier than going forward. Any one of us would probably be seen as a genius, by people from the past, with our knowledge of things that they have never experienced. Of course, if we insisted on talking about things that we couldn't demonstrate, I suppose we would be seen as a village idiot, or insane.

On the other hand, unless society goes downhill, in the future, I would bet that people of the future would think we're stupid. There would probably be a lot of things very unfamiliar to us.

An example of what going to the future might be like:

Mrs Doc went to UPS the other day, to ship something back to QVC. Instead of the usual procedure of filling out a paper form, they had a bank of computers set up, that you used to fill out a digital form and then printed it and a label. The customer is supposed to do the whole process and then pay at the desk. There were several people there, trying to send packages, who had never used a computer. There was chaos at UPS, that day.

I understand that UPS allows you to fill out the form and pay for shipping online, then a brown truck will pick up the package. I suppose your credit card doesn't get charged until they verify the package weight. I hope some of the UPS employees don't have a habit of resting their elbow on your package while it's on the scale.

I've read some of Dean Koontz' stuff. Can't remember reading "Seize the Night" though. I'll check it out at the library, if I haven't already read it.
