O. K Kids, first off Welcome back. Now here it is I now have a truck that goes pretty good (sometimes) Here's the gig, full on thottle with dd1's VA + Otto~mind from the banks kit must have a serious conflict with one another. I can go Dead stop full on throttle up to whenever I let up, no cut out at all. Rolling at 25 , 30 ,50 ,whatever at 3/4 to full-on it will just Defuel horribly (or just cut out non rythmicly) several times do me a favor a minute here and humm to your self the MORRIS code S. O. S ... . thats what it does in a sense. I watched my egt's from a dead stopped takeoff and they shot up quick to 1250-1300 and stayed there because the ottomind won't let egts go OVER 1300. Rolling along then mashing it egt's seem to fly up faster and I think the otto is either blatently shutting down  the VP44 to defuel or I have some sort of other problem.

Any ideas?

Have you tried unplugging the VA or the Ottomind?? But I would imagine without the VA it would not see the EGT as high as quick. I do not know why your speed would make a difference though. What about at higher speed?? I know I can get my EGTs up quicker by mashing it from 80 or so. Maybe another TDR member has another VA you could try?? or possibly another Ottomind but I imagine that would be harder to find. What is your EGT doing when it starts flipping out??

FIRST RULE OF TROUBLE SHOOTING: Isolate and eliminate. !!!!!

Why is the VA still on the truck ??? How does it run w/ out the VA, w/ out the Banks

Does it really defuel rolling or grossly over fuel and flood, (Yes you can quench a diesel ignition w/ too much fuel). ????

It seems the ottomind is capable of producing high egt's or it would not need to defuel w/high egt, so why the VA which is just as capable of producing high egt's. Could it be that the rolling egt's are occuring so fast that the ottomind is not rolling back on the fuel but having to shut the fuel down to prevent a melt down. ????If the controller ( I assume they are ) is using a pid loop to control egt's then the faster the temp rise approaching the set point the defuel will be faster and a more sever fuel cut back, the slower the egt's approach the set point the slower the defuel and less severe fuel cutback

Just my thoughts and un solicited opinions

hey I just had an idea. Place the Ottomind Pyro TC downstream of the turbo then monitor EGT manually. If what JNutter said is correct this would give the Ottomind a false reading and allow you to use all the power you want.

just an idea

Thanx Guys,

Sorry I couldn't Get back sooner to let ya know what's up here. O. K the weather (as well as Job stuff) have not left me with three CONSECUTIVE<~Typo police help!!! moments to my self. I hopefully will unplug the VA tomorrow and see whats up. I have a feeling the EGT Pyro unit INSIDE the otto mind is liking to see "Real time" + Comparrison loop readings match each other. With the DD injectors (Along with 93%TC Transmitting a real workload) these "Values" have been upset. The TLC portion (Torque Limiting Control) of the otto mind that keeps "Harsh driveline torque loads within D/C specs" Is Very Evident now with the VB. (That I don't mind, it's kinda cool) you see boost drop off a little bit on 3/4 shifts then pours on STRONG 1 Seccond after thr shift..... a sighn of defueling? So with this in mind I may end up disconnecting the lead that reads the inj. pumps' output (of course after the disconnection with the VA and Re connection with that lead off)

Let ya know what I find.

Well Well Well,

Found the problem, The Bank's TLC (Torque Limiting Control) that momentarily defuels the VP44 (Readings taken from Connector#2 on the PCM Pin ... ?14? been a while since I installed) had some serious issues taking readings when the DTT TC saver's output signals resulting in a (Very ugly set of codes 4 to be exact that I cleared with a little PCM knowledge) ... . John if you see this Good ol p0500... VSS came up again  , so I disconnected the output for the TLC portion and Whammo completely normal... No defueling... ... bucking... ... and nothing but :D :D :D (Even found a boost leak in the process. ) All four codes by the way were ALL for the Shift solonoids and TC clutch solonoid. I still have to deal with the P0500 thing tho I think the Vehicle Speed Sensor is finally on it's way south.

B.T.W

The Lead color that the OttoMind monitors Shift "point" actions would be blue B. T. W I forgot to add that (Rec'd a couple O' E-Mails on that one ... . ) Sorry 'bout that My bad. :( I Re dialed in the TC saver and NOW were haulin' So Far So Good!
