Ol' Man Needs "Posi" Update

Meet me at Kennedale!

Wow, $1495 now for a HTB2. . ?? I could swear about a week or so ago their site listed them at $1295... anyone confirm this?

Please don't take offense, but I wonder if I am in the minority when I have no idea what HTT means, let alone HTB2. Abbreviations save time and space, but perhaps once in the starting entry of a thread using the unabbreviated meaning would help. I know it would help me... . Obviously not just this thread. Thanks in advance (TIA). . Gerry

I got mine for $995!

Of course that was the last week of 2004 when they were having the $200 off sale. :D

I was told that because they are selling so many, they are going to raise the price.

So they wanted fatter pockets huh? They set the price the first time and they must have thought they were making a fair margin at their original price so now it is just greed, right? Unless of course their materials took a pretty substantial increase in price.

Wait, it is because as the demand increases and supply stays the same the price will naturally increase. Simple economics :D

I'm currently number 79 on the waiting list for an HTB2. It was a pretty modest price increase (25%) and I would suspect that they hope to curb the orders by doing that. They're about 3 - 4 weeks behind right now.

The HTB2 has really taken off - sounds like it's going to be a sweet charger. Oh yeah, the price last week was $1,195.

A few more comments.

IMHO one of the reasons they were selling so well was because of the price. Now they are not priced too far off from several other turbo manufactures so it will certainly cause potential customers too look at the alternatives.

If a 25% price increase is modest, and acceptable, I am really in the wrong line of work.

Personally I was seriously looking at purchasing a turbo from High Tech, but at their new prices and their sketchy pricing scheme I'm not too willing to spend my money there anymore. Remember it wasn't even a year ago when they were sellinf them on special for $995. Certainly at $995 they were making what they thought was a reasonable profit otherwise they would not have sold them at that price. JMHO

Their hope to curb orders is working well already :)

My fault - should have inserted the rolling-eyes smiley after that statement. I meant that with a certain amount of sarcasm. ;)

I will correct this.

just a thought. i made my first visit to their place a little over a month ago. talked to paul quite a bit on the phone before that, but had never been there. while there, they explained to me about all the trouble they were having getting parts from the oem. so they decided to have 'em made on their own! they ended up with a better product, and i would guess, a slightly more expensive one. now, i'm not saying the price is right or anything, just offering up some info. and no, i'm not "sponsored" by them or anything.

this increase will also make me look elsewhere. I was seriously considering the Phat shaft 66 over the sled puller 66, but the price of the sled puller kept making me come back to them. But now that the price is more equalized, I'm gonna look much harder at the Phat Shaft 66.

oh well.

I seriously doubt that the people at HTT are trying to gouge anyone. They are a top notch outfit that is taking extra steps to keep supplying turbos. At least they aren't sitting on their hands and saying " We can't get parts".

HTT will give you a discount if you make an offer. . I got close to a hundred bucks off an exhaust manifold and gasket set. .
