About one hours ago left to go to store, leaving house notice tach was working but speed was at o mph, abs & air bag was lite on dash. Got on main road about 40 mph doors lock that should have lock at 15 mph abs & air bag lite turn off. And speed started working. Have anyone had this problem before. Let me know "thanks"

Sounds as if the sensor on the rear axle that reads speed is having problems. It is where the speedo and the abs get there reading.

As far as cleaning I believe the only thing to be cleaned is the connector. Thanks GAmes I didn't know Geno's had this sensor.

Sometimes the magnetic tip can become contaminated with metal fuzz out of the dif oil. It might be due for changing and a flush. If you are in a hurry for one the local auto parts will have them, they are more money tho.

The connector can be dirty or the sensor isn't fully seated in the mounting hole or the sensor is damaged. The sensor is on top of the rear diff.

Change the sensor that i both at genos (drm970024), did good a few runs at normal speeds. But it did the same as the old one and one time it just stayed at 0 mph. I just shut engine down, and started engine again. All working good for this time, is there any thing else i can check are do. Thanks

The wire harness, from rear to front. Your factory service manual will show the wire colors, where the connectors are, etc.

Gary's saying you need to check the wire harness from the connector at the sensor on the rear diff to the PCM or ECM, whichever the wires from that sensor connector go to.

We had a truck come in the shop once with a failed rear diff speed sensor. The tip had come off, so we thought. Put a new one in and it worked for a few hundred feet and the tip of it came off, so we thought. Pulled the diff cover and found a piece of metal wedged between the ring gear and the carrier that was knocking the end of the sensor off. Ended up rebuilding the diff after discovering part of the LS carrier had come apart.

Not saying this is what's wrong with yours at all. Just a weird story for your reading pleasure about a similar issue.

I recently rebuilt the pigtail on my '98's sensor (or maybe it was near the end of the harness) because the wire was broken and the insulation almost worn through. Until then, speedo/odo was erratic, sometimes dropping out, sometimes working, but slowly and steadily getting worse. It seemed worse on rough roads. Finally looked at the wires real closely and felt them very carefully. And found the broken wire.

Okay guys still have the same problem, let you now what is going on at times. After starting truck the abs, airbag, lights on and no power window, no cruise control, no speedometer. It is doing this at times. This is what i have done already. Change sensors on rear axle & one on transmission, clean the battery posts and disconnected all the connection under the hood and reconnected. There is no codes in system."whats is the next step"

Check the PCM connections, wiggle it or unplug and reset when the situation presents and see that helps. Possibly bad connection in plug or pins or even a PCM malfunction.

Should the batteries be disconnect when i unplug the connection. And this is the box behind the air filter housing correct.

yesterday morning, disconnected all connection under dash and under hood an check the grounds, this is with the batteries disconnected. started truck five time and drove around with no problem. this morning on first crank lights stayed on.drove about three miles to store, and the next crank it was fine. "THIS IS DRIVING ME CRAZY" any more things can be done
