Well, it finally happened! I am now a Ram/Cummins owner! Woohoo!
Pulled off the lot (Koon's Dodge in Fairfax VA, ask for Michael McCleod for a good guy to work with) at about 3pm yesterday and have 200+ miles on the odo now. I can't wait to hook up my little 21' cuddy cabin behind her and see what she'll really do! This this pulls like a freight train, especially compared to my '01 Dakota!
For those that care, so far with appx. 200 miles of mixed highway, and city traffic jam driving and my lack of 6speed/diessel shifting experience. . I am pulling out just over 14mpg (overhead)! I'm impressed and the mileage will improve on the highway and with miles I think. My 4. 7l Dakota only got about 15 with the same driving.
The truck is a Patriot Blue, 2500 Qcab, 600, 6spd, antispin, 4x4, LB, SLT, slider rear window, chrome wheels, owl tires, dk. slate interior, and not one single issue with odd noises, vibrations, wind noise, or hesitation all the way from 0-80 mph. Thanks to the TDR for reminding me to check for all this stuff on the 45 minute test drive! I used an Employee ID number, $2500 rebate, and College Grad (dont' ask! LOL) $400. We drove off the lot at $32,900+/-/ I'm happy with the deal.
The only thing somewhat annoying is with the smell in the cab when sitting at a light, but I fix that by switching to interior air only mode so far (again, thx TDR) I'll move the breather tube when I have 10 minutes to see if that helps.
I'm just getting used to rowing all those gears, and still hit the 4/5 shift wrong (4/R sometimes. . doh!) but everything is just awesome so far.
Thanks for being patient with my long post. . but, what a truck. Thanks Dodge, TDR, and all for the help I got when I started this search! I'm off for a drive to hear that turbo whinin' again!
I'll update my profile and add some pics tomorrow.
