Well, it finally happened! I am now a Ram/Cummins owner! Woohoo!

Pulled off the lot (Koon's Dodge in Fairfax VA, ask for Michael McCleod for a good guy to work with) at about 3pm yesterday and have 200+ miles on the odo now. I can't wait to hook up my little 21' cuddy cabin behind her and see what she'll really do! This this pulls like a freight train, especially compared to my '01 Dakota!

For those that care, so far with appx. 200 miles of mixed highway, and city traffic jam driving and my lack of 6speed/diessel shifting experience. . I am pulling out just over 14mpg (overhead)! I'm impressed and the mileage will improve on the highway and with miles I think. My 4. 7l Dakota only got about 15 with the same driving.

The truck is a Patriot Blue, 2500 Qcab, 600, 6spd, antispin, 4x4, LB, SLT, slider rear window, chrome wheels, owl tires, dk. slate interior, and not one single issue with odd noises, vibrations, wind noise, or hesitation all the way from 0-80 mph. Thanks to the TDR for reminding me to check for all this stuff on the 45 minute test drive! I used an Employee ID number, $2500 rebate, and College Grad (dont' ask! LOL) $400. We drove off the lot at $32,900+/-/ I'm happy with the deal.

The only thing somewhat annoying is with the smell in the cab when sitting at a light, but I fix that by switching to interior air only mode so far (again, thx TDR) I'll move the breather tube when I have 10 minutes to see if that helps.

I'm just getting used to rowing all those gears, and still hit the 4/5 shift wrong (4/R sometimes. . doh!) but everything is just awesome so far.

Thanks for being patient with my long post. . but, what a truck. Thanks Dodge, TDR, and all for the help I got when I started this search! I'm off for a drive to hear that turbo whinin' again!

I'll update my profile and add some pics tomorrow.

Eric

I was working on getting a pic posted, but, alas, my pics are too detailed so i'll have to compress them to meet the 122k specs TDR asks for. Maybe tomorrow.

I think you stole my truck. That what I ordered! Are you sure its yours?? I ordered mine a week ago and should be here any day , right? Anyway love to see positive posts!!

Congrats on your new truck. I fly to Idaho tomorrow to pick mine up. Been a long wait but I've spent the time learning from the more experienced diesel owners on this site. I've been told by Mike Quick at Dave Smiths that there's another guy flying in on the same plane. Maybe we'll follow each other home!

Welcome to the club. Where are you located in Northern VA. I am in the Warrenton area most of the time. Ashburn some. We could get together for a cold one somewhere.

We aren't very close actually, Jengle. +/- 1. 5 hours maybe? I live in Woodbridge area and about teh only time I ever get out that way is to go to football games in NC! LOL

I like the SLT package just fine. I personally didn't need the extra stuff from the Laramie and leather won't work for my work, and my dogs!

The light package is nice though, and the hood prtector really sets off the front end nicely. My dealer did a great job for me and he worked at it too! LOL

We were at one time, maybe. I graduated from Woodbridge Sen. High, and used to live in the K-section of Woodbridge. Moved to Warrenton in 82. Been here since, trying to figure out how to move my job to Montana. If you make it out this way, shoot me a PM.

Will do!

I grew up in upstate NY actually, been in this area since the Corps. sent me here in 1995. Wow. . time to move to greener pastures! We want to move back to NC where we both went to school at NC State. It'd be nice just to be near all the football, and basketball games!

Congrats, DN! I've got good news for you... these darn trucks just get better as they age! I've got 11,000 miles on my truck and like it better than when I bought it! (Of course, I learned how to shift it in that time) :-0

Well, towed the boat for the first time. It is about 5k on teh trailer so it is a joke for this truck. BUT.

WHAT A MACHINE! I'll post more details later as today has been. . uh. . long. But the truck pulled at 50mph in 5th gear up a hill my Dakota needed 2nd gear and the foot to the floor in to maintain 45. The Cummins would allow me to accelerate also. . I was pushing cars out of the way that couldn't get up to the speed limit! LOL Everyone is correct though, I am up to 700 miles now and the transmission is smoother, the clutch is easier etc. Looking forward to 1000's of miles now!

I've spent two days stuck in MASSIVE traffic jams now so my mileage is sucky, but I'm still around 14mpg, and before the traffic and towing the boat I was well over 15 for this tank. . My Dak. in the same traffic was getting about 13mpg with the 4. 7 V8

I'm glad for that 1st creeper gear, helps in traffic!
