My 01 Quadcab 5 speed dually with 242,000 was getting a little sluggish. Started to miss and cutout at 70mph... could travel at 55-60mph ok. Researched VP44 on this forum and decided it was time to swap out the old VP44 that I had put over 160,000 miles on. I had recently replaced the lift pump but that didn't help.
So, I decided to use Bluechip Diesel's Special X (for the 98. 5-02) and Fass DDRP lift pump. When I finally got everything done I took it out for a test drive. Ran a lot better, but I still thought my Quadzilla Adrenaline/Pulse wasn't performing as it should, so I decided to upgrade it. Upgraded my pulse commander but it started missing. Thought I screwed up the upgrade. Finally got everything upgraded properly.
But... it still had the miss. That's when I discovered one of my fuel lines to the VP44 had come loose. Seems like I failed to tighten one properly. Tightened up the line and took it for a spin. Oo. WOW! Best my truck has run in years. :-laf Don't regret the bucks it cost me to do the swap.
