WOW - what do you guys think of Hitch Buddy

me neither, which is cheaper/more handy a in bed 5th wheel hitch or that contraption that you can't take with you if you are towing a trailer, lets say you are hauling a fiver and have a tt for a back haul, what ya going to do with the buddy? or the other way around moving a tt and have a fiver to bring back, how ya going to get the buddy to where you need it. the only good i can see of that thing is being able to drag it behind a suburban/excursion and haul lotsa people

Uhhhhmm, it was DESIGNED to be able to hook a trailer to it, right? Hook it to your truck, attach trailer, drive away.

Last time I looked, 5th rear frames are not up to towing a second 5th wheel behind the first one. Maybe your "special guy" could deliver one 5th wheel and one boat at the same time, as some people modify there rig to double tow. SNOKING

It is designed to hook a 5th wheel trailer, not a travel trailer. Not that it would be legal or safe given the GCVWR of our Rams or allowed total vehicle length, at least for private vehicles to tow double 5th wheels or TTs. The only applications that make any sense to me are hitching a 5th wheel behind your truck, to free the bed as advertised, or allowing an SUV to tow a 5th wheel.



It might make sense, theoretically only, that the Hitch Buddy could allow you to tow two 5th wheel trailers, but only theoretically. Commercial cargo trailers are designed for tandem towing, recreational travel trailers are not.

You wouldn't need the Hitch Buddy to tow a TT in any case.



I didn't expect this product to generate such enthusiastic discussion, nor did I mean to put anyone on the defensive.

Actually about 10 years ago in Eastern Washington, we saw a guy with a similar setup. He had a flat bed with two quads for hunting and a dolly like this for the 5th wheel. Truck had two receivers a few feet apart that the dolly attached to. SNOKING

Ok, to throw a monkey wrench into the soup.

Would it legally be called towing doubles and would not state towing laws apply, i. e. restrictions. .

Like in some states don't allow doubles?, or only on interstates, etc.

Towing with two trailers with this dolley is absolutly nuts in my book. Most trailers are designed to be towed by themselves.





Now if it broke away, it would not matter even with the dolley, it is going to get ugly very fast. :{

A. Who is my 'special guy'? And...

B. Why would anybody want to pull a 5th wheel behind another one? I agree with you, the frame could'nt take it. RV frames suck. The counter swing area is too big anyway. There's a safe way to pull two RVs. That's what I meant.

That's a true statement with ONE trailer! CDL Class A Doubles and Triples endorsement.

A few states don't allow double trailers. Just don't drive to those states. Both trailers must be 28' or less... all kinds of reading on it in the FMCSR book.

So you are going to hook 1 trailer to the 5th plate, and the other to the ball? Wouldn't that mean 1 trailer is on top of the other?

Interesting design, did anyone watch the demo video?

The last bit of it while backing clearly shows it does not pivot at the truck.

That is some serious tire scrub going on while turning.

Not sure why it would need brakes, now you have 3 sets of brakes to sync.
