I purchased a new lift pump from Cummins and moved the location to just before the fuel tank on the frame. With the old pump in the stock location I was 11 psi at idle, 8-9 psi @ 60 mph and 3 psi at wot. New pump at new location is 14 psi at idle, 12 psi @ 60 mph and 9 psi at wot. The engine used to sound kinda raspy above 2600 rpm and now it sounds like it should. I hope I didn't do any damage to the VP-44. Question- I noticed that it takes about 1-2 seconds for my fuel pressure to come up after I start the truck. Is this normal? I can't remember if it was that way before or just now. I hope this isn't anything to worry about.

Sounds normal to me. :D

I am mounting a Carter 4601HP 14-16 psi pump on the frame rail, and will be using a 1/2" supply line. This is what is used on motorhomes, and while testing fuel pressure on them, it never goes below 10. Gotta love it. :D
