Go for it, the frames are mostly the same from 1973 to 1993 (72 the frame rails are closer together). Also if you are working a Crew Cab the rear doors COMPLETELY interchange from 72 to 85. You can even bolt a door from a 70's truck on a 80's and 90's truck(the upper body line isn't there on a 70's door but it will work)as for the rest, if you wanted to cheat, just buy a rolled 1st gen Cummins, and bolt on the body from a 70's Power Wagon. The down side is you get the 70's wiring harness which is a pain in the rear Axel

. The fuse for the blower motor always seems to melt the fuse box. I did the reverse to a 78 power wagon that the body was completely gone, but had a great drive train. I put a 1984 4X2 Body on the chassis, and only thing I had to do was beat the floor pan up so the transfer case would fit, the rest just bolted on, no cutting(except for the transfer case shifter) or drilling !
