I just bought a fuel filter and an oil filter along witha new Tstat at Cummins NW today. Got every thing home and was looking ast the part# for the fuel filter and it is #19856. I looked this # up on Geno's website and that # is for the '03 to '07 5. 9's. I know this is not the right part# for my truck. So I pulled the filter that was in the truck and it is a WIX filter. I need to change my filter out but I do not want to have a wrong filter in there that is designed for the HPCR engine. Have any of you used the '03 to '07 fuel filter? According to Geno's garage part# 19856 will fit but has 7 microns. The one I need has 10 microns for the VP-44. Should I take it back and get the right one or should I just put it in and see what happens? The part# I need is 19855.

A 7 micron filter won't hurt anything it just filters smaller particles of dirt (crud you don't want in you vp44 or injectors).
Will the filter the 7 micron filter work/fit in the filter housing? ( I don't know if the 5. 9 common rail engines use the same or different filter housing then the 02). I suggesgt you call Genos or Cummins and ask them.

Filter housing is the same from 2000 thru 2007. 5.

Older chart but serves the purpose.
