Howdy, all/. First post...

Just a simple question: What containers are being used for the drained fuel? I have heard several things, (Walmart yellow cans, 44 gallon yard waste container) but if I get gas in my tank, I wouldn't expect to have these things with me. I really can't see keeping something with me, so if I oops it, I can drain out and refill? Hmmmm.

Thanks for any thoughts... nice board! And thanks to DReich for his urging me to join (as well as his enthusiasm/envy for my "new" truck).

Im so happy to not have to pump gas and haven't for 5yrs now, and with diesel being the cheapest things at the stations, i think filling my truck up with diesel is like eating it happens automatically. Plus check the end of the dispenser that will tell you what you need to know, you can't go wrong.

It gets me some funny looks, but I've developed the habit of always sniffing the business end of the nozzle before sticking it in the filler neck. With one diesel and two gassers, I have to keep my mind (at least what's left of it) on my business when refueling.

I sniff it, and I hold the nozzle away from the filler neck and give it an initial squeeze so that I can visually inspect the fuel... all it takes is 35 gal of cloudy/algae filled diesel to ruin your day!!!

My old Benz owners manual says if you get in an emergency situation you can run it on gasoline with some motor oil mixed in. Still, I wouldn't do it unless I was in Africa with a bunch of wild natives chasing me with big canibalistic smiles on their faces.

You guys who worry about how to get rid of the contaminated diesel/gas mix - just mix it a little at a time and put it in your gasoline car, tractor, or mower. It won't hurt anything especially if you make sure the engine is warmed up on gas first. Heck, you could probably run straight diesel fuel in the gas engine on a good hot day once it is warmed up good. Some old tractors will run on it fine.
