I'm at about six weeks, so I call the dealer this morning to get an ETA on my truck, leave a voicemail. Pretty shortly the dealership owner, whom I've known for years, calls me back, and I can tell by the tone of his voice that there is a problem. Turns out the truck arrived yesterday, but the guy who entered the order into the system ordered it with gray leather instead of taupe :{ . He was more bummed out than I, if that's possible. Now I don't know what to do. My track-day season is getting under way, so it would be nice to have the truck. On the other hand, I'd rather get the color my wife liked better  . The owner wanted to immediately re-order a truck, but I told him to give me a day to look at the truck and make a decision. What do you guys think??

I don't think you could go wrong either way IMO. Like you said take a day or two and see if you like it. If not do what you gotta do. At the same time your truck isn't cheap so get what you want on it and have no regrets. :D

See if the dealer will drop the price a bit if you take it. Might help the wife enjoy the gray if she knows you saved enough to take her out for dinner tonight in the new truck. :D

I agree, get a discount and take the truck.

I ordered mine with gray, figured it'd look better if it ever got dirty than the taupe.

Siren's song

Well I couldn't wait 'til later, so I went to the dealer and asked them to slap a dealer tag on it so I could take it back to my shop and show the wife, as well as get an extended test ride to check for vibes, etc. as learned from you fine folks. She runs like a bear with no vibes(up to 80 MPH), no droan, no squeaks or rattles. Just that sweet whhhhhhhhhhhhhhhistle of the turbo... damn I'm hooked Oo. Showed it to the wife and she said it's A-OK.

I'll speak with the owner tomorrow and see if we can "come to terms" with this terrible mistake ;)

I had a similar problem when I ordered my 02 Dakota. I special ordered it with a V8 5 speed in black. 6 weeks later the truck showed up in Atlantic Blue. Needless to say I was ******. After weighing all the options i realized it was the exact truck I wanted just in a different color, something I was able to live with. The dealer made good on the deal and gave me a sweet discount on the truck.

My advice is think about it for a couple days, the trucks not going anywhere. Make your decision with a clear head. It may be worth taking the truck with a different color interior if the price is right.

I didn't order my truck, but I was just the opposite on the interior color, we me and the wife wanted the gray/slate/charcoal what ever you want to call it. At the time the ones I test drove all had the taupe interiors.

Finally found one with the gray interior and exterior color I wanted. In your case since you ordered I would probably see about a better deal with the dealership since they messed up.

This is an example of why it's a good idea to get a copy of the dealer's order sheet after they have placed the order so that you can verify that you get what you wanted.

TFucili: I hope everythign works out well for you. I would prefer the slate interior myself. Where I messed up was with the exterior color. Wish I had gotten Atlantic Blue instead of Deep Moten Red.

I say- what's more important, the color of your leather, or a trackday? Trackday wins..... at least in my book. Oh yeah, I have kids. Kids = No leather. :D Your wife sounds like mine...

What don't you like about the Deep Molten Red? I took it over the blue, but I had to think about it for a while... :)

So true...
