What are possible issues to be expected from flashing with the wrong software?

TDR member EB, had the dealer flash in a update on the ECM, and it was the wrong update. It was for the regular pickup and his is a C&C, they reflashed it to the proper program and it was OK. Send him a PM.

That's going to depend completely on how much difference there is between the actual hardware and the hardware the "wrong software" is expecting to control. Might be insignificant; might be non-operational, might even cause physical damage to the hardware. Due to the latter two possibilities, it is not a recommended procedure.

You don't say what year truck you have but it is really hard to flash the wrong software into a used module, a little easier in a new module. There are safeguards in place to keep that very thing from happening.
