anyone hear of the WSB turbo for the cummins? found one for $825. 00 huh? can you beat that? it says it supports up to 550 hp, didn't know if anyone knew of this alternative to the htb2... ... ... . anyone?, anyone? thanks in advance. :confused:
 
I have one on my 06 and i had one on my 04. 5, Its a wicked son of a *****, spools very fast and is very efficiant.



I can still get it hot (16-1700) with tthe edge Hot unlock under a full throttle run. But its great when im towing and did i mention it spools up fast, no instantly.



Im a huge fan of both the WSB and the bigger USB.



I paid more than $850 for a non wastegated housing turbo but it came with the parts to adapt it to a 3rd gen.



First time around we made some custom pipes, this time we bought it with the kit. Either way its a pretty easy install.



Im at 460HP range.

question on the wsb. will it make that 500-550hp mark? i cant believe that your egt's are so high. i am pulling 410 hp with a stack module and downloader. i still have a level up to go. also, who did you purchase it from? and last, the usb turbo? whats up with that? any help would be awsome. want to know if the usb has any lag, etc. looking for 550-600hp. have the right start, but need a turbo that i wont outgrow. as you know, with power you always outgrow your present situation, but again looking for driveability. :confused:
 
My egts only climb that high when I nail it to the wood for a extended smoke show. I cruise at 85+ with egt's in the 800 range. The Edge hot unlock is know to be a hot program on the 06. It makes good power but its hot.



I still am playing with my waste gate an dneed to open it later im only pulling 42-43 PSI. On my 04 i could pull 48-50 with the gate set differently.



I know several people who run the USB on 650-700 HP 2nd gens and they like them. I little bit lag with the bigger whee but supports more power.



Adam Winslett ran a USB over 800 HP with NO2 with no problem. I chose the WSb for the faster spool up down low, which it does for sure. I can hit 30 psi way fast and really feel it spool up quick. I dont really want to go over 500 hp. (dont want to spend the $ to make the drive trail live longer at that higher area) so the WSB seemed like the right choice to me.



I bought mine from Kieth @ diesel dynamics in LV. I know Left coast Diesel (formally Winspeed) here in CAL sells them as well.



Its a trade off, slower spool up of a bigger turbo-vs- quicker spool of a smaller turbo.



Alot more 2nd gen owner use the WSB/USB turbos as they are a dirrect bolt up. you might want to look over on thier side for more info. Or contact Bret at leftcoastdiesels.com - Welcome To The New Home Of Left Coast Diesel!! hes played with the Bell turbos a lot more than I.
 
Hey Jason, so you got the one that I sold to Adam when DD closed it's doors huh? Cool! I know they are *****en little turbo's.



My dad, brother and myself all kept one for our trucks out of that batch, and now my brother wants to get rid of his truck and sell the turbo - which is why it's for sale and Berman is asking about it.



Your post reminded me that Adam had said he might want another one, so I called them today and they said they were going to buy it - but no money from them yet... still on the chopping block! :)
 
Keith, i did not get it from Adam, I got it from you..... i think it was the last one. It was right after you sold that one to adam he picked up from you.

what do you guys do for work? diesel techies? are you the one selling this piece? is it in fact new? what are the specs (housing, etc. , etc. )? any hp numbers? anything that would give me an idea of what it would do for my truck? just researchin' and trying to do it right the first time. thanks for all your help.
 
I used to be... not anymore. Yes, that WSB in the classifieds is mine (well, my brothers). Yes, it's new.



As the ad stated, it's a great turbo for 350-550rwhp. For a daily driver in this range, it works great. Very quick spooling. Not sure the size of the housing, as there wasn't an option when Puis built the WSB. WSB was a WSB. The USB Jason has mentioned, was the big brother to the WSB, designed for the next power level (550-800rwhp or so).



I have seen this turbo on a 650rwhp truck with nitrous. As I mentioned above, my dad, brother and I bought the remaining 10 WSB turbo kits that Diesel Dynamics had when MSD closed DD down. I sold all but 4 - one for me, my dad, my brother and a spare. Now my brother is going to get rid of his truck before installing the turbo, so he wants to sell the turbo. That's the only reason it's for sale.
 
I think im going to upgrade my WSB to something bigger. Im adding 90HP DDP sticks. Ill need more air im afraid.



Any sugestions? Anyone want a used WSB? i have a wastegated housing with a modified cover to open further and a non WG housing.
