Yup, and Wyoming uses a chunk of logging chain for an aircraft wind sock:D

Several years ago I was on I-25 North in late fall. The wind was so bad if you rolled down a window it would not roll back up. The wind forced it out of its track:eek:

The tumble weeds were so thick the fence was covered and they were blowing over the top:D

That same trip when we left the freeway at Douglas and hit Wyo 59 the dead rabbits were so thick on the highway, it made your skin crawl... . Then from Wright to Gillette, we had to use 4x4, snowing like crazy. Wyoming is my kinda state, they still have smoking sections in the restaurantsOo.

What's the average winter weather around Cody or Sheridan?

Been watching the weather there for the last couple of years, but it's been such a big flip flop from one year to the next.

Yeah - the bottom right photo looks like my daily commute! JHawes, the thing about Wyoming weather is it's never the same... if ya don't like it just wait a while! Sometimes it's beautiful :) sometimes it'll scare the crap out of you :eek: Whatever you do, don't forget your fuel blend and the trusty bottle of 9-1-1.

I've spent a lot of time there but it's always spring or summer. I did travel I80 through Wy once in Jan. Wasn't bad at all but it's the bottom end of the state.

I've been stuck there in June with late snow, seen golf ball hail and 50 mph winds. And then 10 minutes later, it's 65 and sunny.

This winter hasn't been too bad in Glenrock so far. I've seen a lot worse over the past 6 years when I lived in Wamsutter. I frequently check the road conditions and last week I-80 was CLOSED for most of it!!

I just fear that we'll get buried with snow from now to July!! :{

BTW... Several years ago, it snowed on the 4th of July :eek:

Here are a few pics from 2008...

Keep in mind that the hood of an International Eagle is about 6' off the ground!!

The last pic is of what happens when the wind blows the wrong way :-laf

Mikey they have this NEW PRODUCT CALLED WEATHER STRIPING It keeps out snow and other NASTY Things :-laf WY is tuffer than We are this years snow is record low

I had redneck weather stripping installed, but the wind blew the towel out from under the door and the snow buried it!! :-laf It's pretty bad when you have to shovel snow out from inside the house #@$%!

I'm glad I moved out of that place. :D

Here's a couple of my vehicles I almost couldn't find after work... I ended up commuting home in the Freightliner instead of digging out the VW, and the one of the Dodge is what I found when I got home :eek:

Burrr, those pictures are freezing me here in Arizona, reminds me of south eastern Montana. Not too far south of you in Wheatland or maybe Chugwater they have a Chilli cook off in the fall. Now is when ya need a big 'ole pot of it.

Compared to the Sierra Nevada Mtns Ca/Nv, those pics don't look too bad. Winds over the I80 summit can gust up to 100mph; It's rare, though. And I've seen snow drifts twice as tall as the Frieghtliner.

The real difference I see is the temps. Definately colder where you guys are. How often do pipes bust? What kind of pipe insulation do ya use? Can ya leave the valves open a small amount to keep the water flowing, or does it instantly freeze?

LOOKS PRETTY TOUGH TO ME We have had a VERY mild winter here.

Here in Glenrock too!! Windy, YES, but not near as cold as it was last year in Wamsutter! -39*and windy a year ago and the coldest I've seen here is -9* without the wind!!

Chugwater isn't too far from here... I gotta venture out a bit more when I'm on days off!! :-laf Hard to do when working strictly nights though :{

Stuff looks a little bit weird to me if I end up working 14ish hours and the sun is coming up :-laf BTW... I get lost in daylight because I'm taking it all in and miss my turn :rolleyes: I'm pretty alert and pay close attention to landmarks at night, but I tend to "daydream" a bit when the sun is up!! LOL!!! :D I'm also in a profession where "going the extra mile simply means you've missed your turn!".

I'm sure BIGNASTY can back me up on this one!:-laf

I've been here for about 5 months and still haven't a clue as to what this place looks like!! #@$%!

Found a couple more :D

Tried busting through a few drifts a while back... Enjoy!

Edit: I opened the hood in a panic because the battery light came on and I was miles from home at night and it was around -20* out. Engine was running and the belt was stopped! :eek: It seems that a warm engine + snow & bitter cold = instant ice!! Charging was normal after a minute or two as the belt started to turn the accessories and the rest of the pulleys as it melted. ;)

I'm currently living in an RV and can't leave the water running for many reasons. I just check the weather and shut it off when needed, but in the past I have found that open cupboards and strategically placed space heaters in a mobile home can offer some help. BTW... a "sticks n' bricks" house or apartment wouldn't have near the problems.

I know that the Sierras can have more snowfall in a single storm than we see all year, but the wind and dropping temps is what makes it miserable here at times. Snow never really melts here... It just blows over to Nebraska to do that!! :-laf
