I am going to install my x this weekend, and the directions say to install the temp probe in the down pipe. I currently am post turbo with my westach gauge. First, can I use that hole for the new probe, or should I put it preturbo, against the instructions advice?

Preturbo, that's where I put mine. . it's 1/4" npt thread. . 29/64 drill makes it easier to start the tap than the 7/16 will. If you need to re-tap. . that is.

Got it in today. Still haven't hard mounted the "brains" or the display yet. I'll do that tomorrow. I did reuse my post turbo spot that my old gauge was using. I'll probably put it pre eventually, but my tap and die set is packed away at the moment.

Anyone use the fuel pressure add-on?

I used the fuel pressure add-on. Found out that my pump was only putting out 8 psi, ended up replacing that too. Don't know about anybody else but I found it much easier to replace the fp by removing the fuel filter and getting it out of the way. Mines a 98. 5 24v also.

1. 5s, comp, catcher, SuperB, BHAF, ATSexh, 4" turbo back

jdooner,

how do you view the fuel pressure on the x-monitor? I have pyro, boost, and trans temp, and it looks like it takes all the screen's real estate.

Received mine today, drilled the manifold with heavy magnet alongside the drill bit picking up the shavings as they were cut. The 7/16" as stated above is hard to start a tap on. Installed the probe and the weather went bad, more rain. By the way I bought the universal mount and I am mounting it on the steering collumn, any one else try this?

When I eventually move mine to preturbo, I will just leave the truck running when I drill, should keep the shavings out.

SKargo. .

On the X, you can't have fuel pressure AND trans temp, it should be in the booklet some where. There are different settings depending on which you use.

Thanks for the clarification. I'll keep my current fp gauge, or get a black faced one to compliment my sock gauges.

What's the max temp you've achieved? I've only hit the high 8's so far.

803 degrees in the mountains of west virginia 75 MPH in 5th gear

If your probe is post turbo you will have to add about 300 degrees to the 800 reading to get the correct manifold temperature. That would make it about 1100 at the manifold which is still OK. My probe is pre turbo and it gets up to 1100 quite often pulling my 5th wheel up hills.

I've since added injectors, and have gotten into the low 900's. I'll probably move it to the pre location.

How do I close the post turbo hole? A bolt?
