x-monitor

Bought an 06 mega-cab and trying to decide what gauge set up to use. Had an 03 with pillar mount 3 gauge. What I didn't like about this set up was the blind spot it created and grab handle removal,although I was happy with the gauges. For you that have an x-monitor give me your opinions of this unit pros and also cons? Where you mounted the unit and anything else you care to input.

I purchased a BD X-Monitor (Pyro & boost) from Geno's garage. It mounts nicely underneath the grab handle. Retaining the grab handle was the main reason for choosing that guage.



It seems to work well, as far as I can tell. The only downside that i've noticed is that if the sun is shining at just the perfect angle, it will overpower the readout on the guage. It's so seldom that this happens that I don't consider it to be a serious problem, at all. Would not cause me to want another guage system.



I, also, made a "hood" out of a plastic switch box (purchased from Radio Shack) to help with the reflection from the sun. don't know if it really works, or not. I did this upon initial installation.



Having the grab handle is well worth any negative the X-Monitor may have, in my opinion. I'm, also, happy with the performance of the X-Monitor. It has some pretty neat "memory" features, also. Great for monitoring changes when adding performance add-ons.

Pretty much everything Buffalo said. I'm pleased with mine and would get it again if I was starting fresh. Mine has Trans temp, pyro and boost. It was fairly easy to install by myself.

How hard to install it your self. I ordered a A2 then I backed out because I want my warranty center to be at my dealer. I`m after the digital display, that quick glance for all of the info.

The install is easier than doing analog guages, if you take your time I would say it's not too tough of a job.



The hardest part is drilling and tapping the manifold, the first one is the worst, nothing to it after that.
