What is the experience with the X-Monitor on the 2003? Can you read the numbers during the day and night. Do the gages accurately reflect the right temps/boost? How hard are they to install.

Thanks.

If you only want to monitor boost and EGT you may want to try a Westach dual gage from Geno's. You can use a single prepainted housing that mounts under your grab handle on the pillar.

Mine is on it's way!

Prairie Dog, Would appreciate some pictures of your install when you get it done.

I saw my first X-monitor on a 03 dodge the other day. I was impressed with the way it looked. There is a couple things that I liked about it. One was that is had a memory recall on the EGT's for the highest temp. ;) The other was that you didn't have to run a bunch of wires and tubes up into the cab. It has a master control that is mounted inside the engine compantment and the there is just one phone cable that you run from there into the cab and plug it into the back of the guage. :--) When I installed all of my guages in my 00 powerchoke all of the wires created for a pain in the a--.

Mine looks good, works good and installed good. Yeah, you can read the display day or night unless the sun is shining directly on the face of the unit. I had the pod painted to match the interior too. :)

I am a guage nut, always have been. When I bought my 03 there was no dash pods available. So, I bought the X Monitor. Took a little getting use to but now I like it. Just had the unit swapped out for the pyro, boost and ebrake pressure model. Think it is going to be ok... ... ... ... .

Any pictures?

Do you have any pictures of the install and did you run into any odd problems with the install? I have been debating on what guages and what mounting system to use on my '03(I was told I couldn't lose the grab handle:()

Give me a bit of time. My truck is torn apart right now. Some dude is out there trying to stuff a 10lb compressor in a 5lb hole. :D

Did you have to "braze" the bushing for the pyro probe? I don't have the monitor yet, but I read the instruction sheets and it referred to welding the bushing in place.

I drilled and tapped the exhaust manifold just above the turbo flange. After talking to a few good diesel shops, I decided that a pre-turbo reading was more important than a post-turbo reading.

Kilby,

I noticed a bunch of wires coming out the back of your piller. Can those wires be run down the piller so they don't show?

Those wires are for my brake controller. It sits on the dash next to the monitor but I took it out when taking the pic. Just ignore them. Btw, the monitor uses a telephone cord to connect the read out to the main box under the dash.

Thanks, that answers my questions. I think I going to put one in my new 04 when it gets here. I also think my son will put one in his 03. :D Oo.
