I've been thinking of installing a light bar like my offroad buggy. Thinking a 20" would fit nice and perfect between the tow hooks.

IMHO that would ruin the looks of your truck! Also if mounting between the tow hooks it will restrict air flow thru the bumper.

I think the best option would be to hook the fog lights up directly to one of the up fitter switches. Then you could have brights and fogs at the same time.

Agreed, personally, I wouldn't block flow to the intercooler for added light.

Y'all are a picky bunch! I've been plenty happy with my lights ever since I re-aimed them to compensate for the level kit.

I think they look pretty nice between the tow hooks. It's the only place I think they look good. I'm not really into accessorizing my vehicles. I have thought about the restriction of air flow which is the main reason why I haven't done it yet. I do have a couple of 7" light bars I'm considering temporarily installing because I'm about to drive from GA to AZ again on Friday and would like the extra light... but that would mean making a bracket and I'm a bit too lazy at the moment to make that happen.

If you want the fogs on with the High beams then just get one of the waterproof relays from Geno's and tie the switch feed into the high beam line and you will have fogs with the high beams. I did this right after I got the truck as I have done this on the last three trucks and I have had no problems with this. I have a 20" light bar in the bumper slot and have towed at a combined weight of 25,000 lbs plus serious wind drag in the mountains at 39C/100 F with no noticeable problems at all. Granted I didn't do any really long climbs at these temperatures either, so maybe I have yet to find out the limit of my air flow restriction.

When blocking the bumper opening, you should be more concerned with the effectiveness of the intercooler (direct relation to power and efficiency) moreso than engine temps.

I don't think that our HD Trucks are that picky about that flow, the cooler assembly is way big enough - so big it's more a problem to keep everything warm then keeping it cold. Trailering excluded.
Otherwise no one should ever use a winterfront if that flow is so important?

As I said above, the lower bumper opening feeds (so to speak) the intercooler. This is mostly about engine performance, not engine/trans/PS pump cooling.

So if we fill it with a 30'' LED Bar, will we even notice anything?
I've had huge lights (4 8-9 inchers) on light bars on both my 2005 and 2011 and couldn't tell any difference on anything.

That, I couldn't tell you, maybe on a dyno? Plus, I think the intercooler was in a different location on those years, someone else can probably verify.

Regardless, for me personally, I would not potentially sacrifice performance/efficiency for lighting, because honestly, my lights work pretty darn good as far as I'm concerned. I'm quite baffled that some guys are finding them inadequate. I do have to say, it seems most (nobody here in particular) add lighting because they think it makes them look badass.....just like an 8" exhaust tip.

I see lots more owls in the tree tops at night with the light bar turned on.
If you go to HID, the light bar isn't really needed in my opinion, at least for "on the road" lighting.

How do you like the HID's? Were they difficult to install? I watched a YouTube video that shows it's a bit of work. Although, to do anything with the headlights involves taking the front end apart and removing headlight bodies.

They weren't too bad to install. Headlights come out pretty easily. Then it's just a matter of running a wire to the batteries and tying or mounting the ballast somewhere in behind the headlights which is a bit tight. They were plug and play otherwise.
I love the HID lights, I can't stand to drive any other vehicle at night now since I'm spoiled.

My wife's Kia had HID's. I loved them! They were like daylight at night in the beam pattern.

Everything else pales in comparison!

Sure they are not cheap - but worth every cent.

Oh and just to mention it, these are asymmetric headlights, European pattern. That means that the right part of the pattern goes farther then the Left one.

Update.

I went to put the PIAA HB4 (9006) Extreme White Fog Lights in my 2015 Ram truck and they don't fit the double slot on the top of the harness plug.
For ****s and giggles, I looked at the HB3 (9005) Extreme Whites bulbs designated for my Brights and they have the double tooth to fit the double slot on the harness plug so I installed them.
I drove about an hour in the dark and with The projector lights on with the HB3 (9005) Fog lights the driving was extremely different. The bright fogs stay low and fill almost the full spectrum of the projector lights. I was very impressed!
None of the on-coming traffic flashed me and the only vehicle that adjusted their rear view mirror in front of me was an older VW Golf that sat low to the ground.
At this point now, I would not likely do anything with the projector lights now that my fog lights are heaps better and will look at changing out the Bright light bulbs to something better.

No, England is England, a funny little Island with nothing in common with the rest of Europe. They even drive on the wrong side of the road.....

The standard Morimotos are for our LHD Traffic, RHD is available too.
