My wife gave me a Delphi XM Radio last night for Valentine's Day. Gotta love a woman like that! Anyway, was just wondering if there is any sound quality difference between the cassette adapter and the FM modulator. I just have temporary install done for the moment and wanted to use the best route when I do the finished install in a few days. Thanks for any input.

I purchased the FM mod for my sirius system. I don't like all the wires. Outlawram, if you are getting muffled sound with the tape, have you turned off the dolby?

yes, i turned it off. I have the infinity also. I also think it looks better with no wires running all over the face of the radio from the tape.

In my family we now have put XM in several vehicles some with the modulator and some with direct connection to a pioneer deck. I would say the modulator is the way to go. It's deffinatelly much more clear than a standard radio signal and enables you to have a much cleaner install. The tape adapter doesn't have the sound clarity that the modulator does. Good luck Seth

Thanks...........

That's what I was thinking, just wanted to verify before buying any other parts. I love this thing, think I even talked my secretary into getting one for her husband. Thanks again.

I use the modulator and like it. I also keep the tape thing in the g-box in case I'm near a big city with a plethora of FM stations.

Don't tell no one but at work I also hook the FM modulator to the back of my computer so I can listen to Rush. Everyone thinks its XM radio. Someday I'll get busted by the IT police - but until then :p

Another question about the xm radio. I use the cassette tape instead of the fm modulator. Sometimes the cassette will switch from forward to reverse ( I hope you know what I mean) and then try switching back and forth, like it is at the end of a tape. What gives?

I just finished putting my Delphi XM in about 2 hrs. ago. I've been listening to it since. I have a Pioneer 1. 5 din radio and Infinity speakers. I couldn't believe how clear it is. I used the FM modulator. I tried a portable CD years ago when they came out and I was told that the sound will only be as good as the tape head can produce (with the tape input). Craig
