XM Radio help?

Will XM Radio work in my (04. 5)
truck? I don't have a cassette, just a AM/FM/CD. Sam

Are you thinking about an external plug-n-play unit that you can take with you?

If your question is how to connect then this adapter will plug into the back of your factory deck and provide a place to connect the XM hardware. You then simply push the "Mode" button on your deck to select the Satellite.



Using this adapter will give you much better sound quality over a cassette adapter.

bballsam, do a search on ebay for xm radio componets. you can use what they call a "fm modulator" instead of cassette adapter.

Yeah, you can use an FM modulator. I don't know if the adapter listed above will work. It depends if your radio is "cd Changer" compatible.

xm has a "deal" on the Roady unit that gives you a free FM modulator (unit that transmits on various FM channels) with purchase of the unit. When I bought the other day the retailer did not know about it but when I showed him the web info from XM they gave it to me. It works fine in the 03

The nice thing about using the aux input adapter is you get to keep the digital sound from the Satellite as its hardwired in.

The FM modulators are more easy to connect but then transmit back through the vehicles antenna.



I have the AM/FM/CD in my truck- sales code#RBK. That is the code next to where the clock buttons are.

Any late model deck that has a "Mode" button will take this adapter.



I can't speak for XM but my Sirius is so close in CD quality sound that I gave up C/D's

My radio is a RBK also!!
Which one should I go with XM or Sirius?

I have Sirius and love it. I even bought a plug-in-play unit that we use at home and in the camper. Don't know about the NASCAR thing.

Doesn't look like it. Most of that kind of stuff is tied into contracts so what you find on one most likely will not be on the other. check here for the sports stuff on Sirius.



If you want NASCAR then XM would be the choice.

I went with Sirius cuz there was no way I was gonna pay for radio and listen to advertisements. Now I understand XM is commercial free but is it on all music stations like Sirius?



I use a plug-n-play unit so one subscription and I have it in the Ram, at work, in the TT, in the boat and home.

I am hooked for sure and hate FM every-time I get in the wifes car.

c. d. player/radio. (almost factory)

with steering wheel controls on the laramie truck. I also have a XM ski-fi Delphi

boombox with artist and song title displayed. Both services are great but I

like the XM service and the Delphi unit the

best!

XM commander install..

I installed the XM commander in my 2500. The head unit

fit in the 'junk catcher' next to the 4x4 switch.

The main unit itself has a wired RF modulator built in, and also line level outputs. Its mounted under the dash out of the way. The IR remote is handy for keeping your eyes on the road while tuning the thing. . and also the people in the back seat can use it too. I just stick it on the panel with velcro. .

And one of the antenna. The wire goes under the door gasket where it comes out from under the dash, then follows it up to the top where it goes over to the antenna.

I like XM a lot! Out here in the 'boonies' its nice to not have to change stations every 40-50 miles or so. .

I haven't looked lately, but I heard XM has about 3-4 times the user base than Sirius did. . that makes me feel a little more secure that they will be around for a while.
