to the guys in Alaska...

Getting one soon... What are your opinions? What did you choose and why? I'll be needing one with a wireless FM connection, due to changing trucks daily...

After listening to both for a while I would go with XM. They seem to simply play better music on the stations I would listen to most. XM has 3 great stations that would appeal to me more then anything SIRUIS has, X Country - XM 12, America - XM 10 and US Country - XM 17.

SIRIUS does have one station that I listen to about 80% of the time I am in my truck with XM does not, and that is "Rolling Stones Radio", The Rolling Stones 24/7.

I'm about ready to ditch my XM. Their sound quality has dropped significantly over the past year or so. I'm guessing that they've decreased thier bit rate so they could have more channels. The audio quality is almost on par with FM radio. My XM is hardwired into my head unit, so RF signal degradation isn't the issue (and probably makes the sound quality much more obvious). Even the weather radar download from XM now takes about twice as long (in the plane, not my truck - probably not much of an issue for most on here, but it does show that things are slowing down).

I was going to try Sirius, but now that I have my Ipod I hardly listen to the radio at all any more.

There is entirely too much talking on XM. It is impossible for them to play two songs in a row without someone coming on running their mouth or playing a stupid jingle. On the channels I listen to (mainly 16), instead of picking from tens of thousands of songs at their disposal, they choose to play the sos over and over.

It is no better than FM, in my opinion. Satellite radio should be a fully automated system. There is no need to have a DJ, since its "commercial free. " As it turns out, thats a crock as well. Even on the non commercial stations, XM still advertises for itself.

I got an ipod and sirius at about the same time. I could not even begin to think of driving all day without my sirius satellite radio. I spend about 8 hours a day in my truck. Never listen to my ipod. Music is OK..... but my afternoons are filled with Bubba. There is also Playboy Radio.

For music fans, Sirius music channels are commercial free, if I wanted them I'd stick with FM. I bought Sirius for Howard Stern.

I have Sirius in my truck. When my wife got her 2006 Jetta TDI we put in there also. We both use it alot... and like it alot...

FTE, eh? Bubba fills my afternoons also. Haven't listened to the playboy channel yet. Don't think I am missing anything by not.

From what I have heard, Sirius will be the top dog over XM after Nascar moves over here. Those rednecks are many. :-laf

I guess I am now a redneck also as I have been watching the Nascar races since I have been listening too Bubba. :-laf

I have Sirius, and I have listened to XM over my TV(Directv),and my friends car stereo, and I must say I am so glad I picked Sirius. I got it for Stern, but I also got it a year or so before he came over so I got a chance to check out other channels, and I must say they are very good. The whole thing with satellite radio is to have commercial free music which XM can't clain 100% like Sirius(unless you count Sirius' ads for their own channels),and I think Sirius is better suited to last in the future, but I could be wrong. Also Bubba is a riot, although it took me a little while to warm up to him,as I am a yankee, and he is more a good ole boy.

You can listen to Sirius free today, and tomorrow on the net for free if you go to sirius.com.

Good luck, and you won't regret either choice I think as they are both better than FM.

Chris

I got Sirius because they have the top college football games on every Saturday and all the pro games too. Commercial free music and the Playboy channel helps me stay awake sometimes! :-laf

I am addicted to Bubba in the afternoons! Craziest stuff I have ever heard. I could care less about Howard. In the mornings It is Kevin and Court on Playboy or just listening to music. But from noon till 4:00 in our time zone it is Bubba. Take and return calls on the 5 minute commercials every 1/2 hour during bubba's show. Bubba seems to like the stuff I do..... Women, mopars, UFC, and just being funny.

I bought sirius for Howard. but when he brought Bubba on board it was even better. I only listen to them every now and then anymore. Bubba's show is hilarious. I like Ned the most. those little bits he does are awesome. I heard xm has commercials on their music channnels. sirius has gained like 4 or 5 million subscribers since Howard. I dont know how xm is doing.
