Yikes!!!

Air bags and auto leveling

When I looked up the info on xps ribs , it said summer tire not to be used in freezing weather. Is this correct? Most of the reviews I have seen about these tires has been great. Any problems in cold weather?

Where did you read a review indicating summer use only? That's nonsense. I've used XPS Ribs in all weather for years and many other TDR members and RVers use them very successfully.

They are not a drive wheel tire but are great for steer tires or trailer tires.

I used the LT235/85R-16E XPS Ribs both on my 2002 3500 dually and a previous Jayco Designer XL 3610RLTS 5th wheel. Never a tire problem, and yes, I used them year round (albeit the winter use was primarily in Texas). I highly recommend them.

Obviously, the tread pattern of the XPS Rib isn't that of a snow or off-road tire. There's the XPS Traction drive axle tire for that.

looked on Tire Rack website for 235-8516-e Michelin tires ,xps tire and sub info listed there.

Yep, the description provided does indicate summer use. Disregard that. The writer was thinking that tire was intended by Michelin for use in a light truck application. The writer had no understanding of the purpose of that tire.

I think if you go to a Michelin website you'll see a better description.

IIRC, the ONLY problem with the Michelin XPS Rib and Traction tires is that they are NOT offered in 17 inch, E rated sizes.

I believe I read that the XPS isn't well suited for winter due to the compound of the rubber. It's a stiffer rubber, and under cold temps, becomes "hockey-puck" like. Blizzaks as well as other dedicated winter tires use a rubber compound that remains flexible in cold temperatures.
