The latch on the bottom is loose. The screws are tight, and the door closes better than the passenger side, but the doohicky isn't tight to the door at all.

Anybody have experience with this? Looks like it could be a bear. I'll go to the manual eventually.

Wade:

Haven't had problems with the latch itself-but have been having problems with the "linkage" rods that attach to the top and bottom latches from the handle. The lower rod has come loose three times now and of course the door is shut so I have to jimmy the panel loose to reach the lower rod and get it open just to snap the rod back in place. Doesn't seem to want to stay very long-I wonder why they didn't come up with something better? Sorry I couldn't be any help- it seems that these quad doors will give everyone trouble sooner or later.

Wade,I noticed my pasenger side rear door wasn't latching on

the bottom. The latch was stuck in open position andneeded

cleaning,I tried to take out the screws from the bottom and

found there is a nut on the inside as a jam nut. I don't

remember sizes (this was the evening before leaving for two

weeks vacation, that whole evening i've tried to forget) but it

was easy once I got out of rip and tear mode, hosed it ouwith brake cleaner and oiled it ,so far so good

GRusche-I don'tremember what year your truck is as I type

this but I don't see how the rods could come off of mine

without breaking something, mabe look up parts at stealer

and see if they changed clips. mines an 01-if it looks like they

would work get some for next time it comes apart?

Thanks for the reply

Jim:

Thanks for the reply. Mine is an '01 - I wonder if the clips have broken somehow:confused: ? Mine appear to just hold the threaded rod but don't prevent the lower rod from popping out.

I didn't take the other side apart to compare pieces - those plastic "one-time" panel clips were shot on the non-working side;don't want to wreck more until I get some to replace.

It looks to me like you should be able to thread the right sized nuts above and below a sort of swivel - would allow the rod to swivel with the latch mechanism and also allow for adjustment - what the heck, may try it!
