Y2k Ram w/ Prodigy Question

Ok, need some quick advise for my new prodigy. I have a Y2K 2500 and just picked up the Prodigy and the wire harness that lets you plug from the dash right into the Prodigy. My question is Prodigy says to ensure Dodge has grouned the trailer Package plug directly to the battery. Do any of you know if this is done. Or has anyone use Prodigy's wireing harness with a Y2K. It seems so easy i think i'm missing something

Prodigy on a 2001

I hooked up a Prodigy on my 2001 and have not had any probloem with the factory wiring. I've towed my trailer maybe 5 times with the controller?



The directions never said for me to check the ground (unless I overlooked that part!)

The Prodigy controller that I currently have in '01 and the Sentinal I had in my '99 Expedition both said the same thing about the ground. It's difficult enough trying to get my a$$ usder there to plug in the harness, let alone follow the wires. :{ I said screw it both times. The way you can tell you don't have a good ground is by the braking power. My trailer has two axles with 7100# brakes on *both* axles and my '01 3500 has no problem at all locking up the brakes instantly. My trailer loaded weighs in just under 11,000lbs. I have towed this same trailer on two occasions with my friends '01. 5 2500 with the same results (except he uses a Sentinal). Because of these results, I've come to the conclusion that wherever Dodge grounds the harness is sufficient... atleast for me.

the probeble reason that they urge caution on the side of the grounding, is that the earlyer 2nd genertions had a bad grounds, body to frame, to engine, so it is always a good idea to check this out so you don't have a problem. I know of a few casses that DC refused to fix a truck that the wiring harnesses burned, because of a bad ground (DC's fault) owner had to pay $300. 00 for repair. they just over looked this aspect of the manuf. process check it out, so you don't have to put it back together again. just my pennys worth.
