I finally found it. It's a 1936 model

Caution!

I just was winning bidder on a Sony Notebook on Yahoo Auctions. I've never used Yahoo Auctions until I registered today. It is a refurb with 90 day manufacturers warranty. I got it for $481 with $20 shipping for a total $501. Searching the net, the best price I've seen on a refurb of this model is $800, and the cheapest I could find it new is $1300 online. So $481 seems like one heck of a good deal, perhaps to good to be true. Problem is the seller is unrated. He has sold 8 other items from March 13 to 18th. He's only been registered since March 9. I've purchased a lot of stuff on ebay and never had a problem, but I've always used Paypal for big ticket things, or sent money order for cheap stuff. Apparently Paypal is not an option on Yahoo. This guy asks for payment in cashiers check or money order. There is a service called Escrow.com, and it would cost me a $25 service fee to use it, that is if he agrees to it. He doesn't get paid by them until I verify that I've recieved the product, as opposed to his policy of shipping on receipt of payment. What do you guys think?

Yahoo Auctions is the only place I've been burned, got burned on my first transaction there. Never been back. I'd go the escrow route. On ebay, got simi burned, but paypal gave me my $ back.

Just my . o2

The fee varies i believe, but its not that high in price... I purchased a two station home gym on yahoo auctions for a unbelieveable price that included free shipping. I set it up through COD with the seller as that was the only way I would pay for something like that not being a major company. Everything worked out great. Really though check about COD.

Yeah, the COD idea sounds good but I just thought of something. If it is DOA, I'm still stuck, whereas with the escrow thing, you have time to check it out before payment is made. However, the thing is supposedly warranted for 90 days. So maybe I should just take my chances on the COD.
