Leaning toward the south bend clutch.

Truck started to slip a bit with the new addition in modifications. So which one you think will suit my needs (nice drivability would be nice)? Who is best to buy from? Mods are in signature.

Thanks,

Sean

Told you that your clutch wouldn't last long with your HRVP, injectors and Edge Comp. :D

At least you're on here rejoicing rather than threatening to sell it and go to a Chevy.

It will be hard to get in a chevy now after what I am feeling what kind of power this little cummins is pumping out now. Now that she is taken care of by my hands I couldnt be happier with the truck. I will give poole a call and pick his brain.

Thanks,

Sean

I've got similar mods to yours. I thought I would go with the SBC Con FE and tried to talk to as many folks as possible. I pull a pretty heavy gooseneck so towing had to enter the equation. For my towing needs it was strongly suggested to go with the OFE as the FE is very grabby. The OFE can be grabby at times too, but as it has broken in, it is not quite as bad as it was. If the FE is grabbier than the OFE, then it would make backing a trailer difficult at times in my opinion.

I will say this, when I've played with the power after having the OFE in, it holds great..... no issues. My dyno #'s are 387/868 and no problems. I've added a Smarty (since dyno) for the ECM since and still no issues. I'm going to add a bigger turbo in the next couple months to burn the fuel I already have and I still believe the OFE will hold fine. I should be somewhere around the 450 hp mark which is the top recommended threshhold for the OFE.

The FE is a bit more grabbier But if you have 4x4 get a 2 low kit and it would help you when backing up. Also take a look at the NEW DD towing clutch ALL South Bend Clutches are 15% right now. Oo.

Thanks poole! I can put the truck on 5x5 and as soon as I hit 35psi the clutch says "I cant take it anymore!!!" then its fry time. What kind of boost #'s should I have with this new set up? I think I will be looking at the Con OFE. Should order it soon.

Thanks,

Sean

I opted for the con OFE. It's a very smooth clutch & has given me no problems with my mods.

I'm running the Con OFE in my 02 with a TST Comp PM3 and RV 275 injectors.

I run it on Level 9 all the time with no slipping, and I beat the hell out of this truck. The transmission grumbles a bit when I get in it too soon, but the clutch holds fine.

just put the ofe in mine great clutch towed with it this weekend for the first time not too grabby. Now i got a new problem carrier went south today check out my pics on the "driveshaft problem" post. was on level 5x5 on my comp
