Last Friday, the folks at Stellantis (or is it FCA? Ram perhaps?) released “Safety Recall 13A – Intake Air Heater Relay," a service instruction bulletin for dealer service.
The bulletin tells us that there is a “remedy available” for the 2023 Ram Turbo Diesel trucks (2500-5500 models).
The remedy is not yet available for the 2021-2022 Ram Turbo Diesels.
My observation: “Remedy” is a word that means parts are becoming available for repair. Since there is a hold on new vehicle sales, the first parts are going to those new trucks on dealership lots that were affected by the stop sale order.
The stop sale has been in place for about one month. When we tally the 2023-sales-per-year it will be interesting to see if the number is “low” by 1/12 or 8.3%.
Moving on from my observation, here is some verbiage from FCA:
The service procedure involves removing the battery cable (negative leads), removing the air intake hose, and removing the wiring harness from the existing relay (from the picture in the bulletin it is part number 68444169AA), Install a new relay.
The stop sale was initiated on 2/16/23. This remedy for 2023 trucks is being made available on 3/23/23.
Dealers must perform the repair before retail delivery of new trucks to customers.
The official “Important Safety Recall” letters to existing customers for the intake air grid heater relay for the “Y08 or Y76” recall will be forthcoming. Additional parts supply, also forthcoming.

Subject: About 302,000 of the above vehicles can experience an engine compartment fire originating from the Generation 1 solid state intake air grid heater relay. An electrical short in the relay can potentially lead to a vehicle fire with the ignition on or off. A vehicle fire can result in increased risk of occupant injury and/or injury to persons outside the vehicle, as well as property damage.
Customers are advised to not park these vehicles inside of buildings or structures, or near other vehicles until the vehicle has the final repair completed.
Repair: Install a new Intake Air Heater Relay
Parts Information:
Part number: CSTP13A1AA
Quantity: 1
Description: Relay, Heater Grid
