Yellow plastic fastners ?

Well I had to remove the door inside covers and can not figure how to put the cover back like it was . Some of the molded fixtures on panel face left some face right some up- and some down slots grab yellow plastic but I don't know the trick to get it back in place ,looked in book on help there. Is this a must get new yellow plastic buttons ? Some one out there must know . Getting ready for a tow to the five star tomarrow a. m Thanks for any help . Ron in Louisville Ky drive way

If I understand you right, some of your clips are bent? If so, straighten them out. They should all point straight out, I believe. They should be held into the slots on the panel. Then they line up straight to the holes in the door. If some are stuck in the door holes, they'll have to come out - a pain of a job unless you have the door panel clip tool. The tool can be bought at Napa type stores, I think. I'll be buying a clip tool the next time I have to take mine off. I hope this helps.

Yeah those little clips are a pain. Here's a relatively painless way to deal with them: take a pair of diagonal wirecutters, put the blades on either side of the stem going into the sheet metal, hold just enough tension on the handles to keep the blades in contact with the clip, but don't want to cut them in half! Now position the handles so they are sticking out beyond the edge of the door and with your other hand hit the handles of the wire cutters to basically pry them out. If you do it with the right amount of force, they will pop out and you won't destroy them in the process. Then just slide them back into the slots on the door panel, line them up with the original holes and bang them in with your hand. Just replaced my factory speakers and this worked great for me.

If you break some of the clips you can pick up generic Chrysler ones at NAPA, $4/10. I found them to work better than OEM ones even though they look different.

A Wonder Bar for construction works great for popping the panels and the fasteners. It is inexpensive and available at all home repair type stores. Just be careful not to scratch the paint.



To put the panel back on, make sure all of the fasteners are clipped into their slot on the door panel. Align the panel and carefully tap them into the slots by rapping the panel with the palm of your hand over each fastener location.
