My latest confusion is: Is the stock EGR on my '96 compatible with aftermarket power (Plate) kits that plainly say not to use with EGRs? I did some searches on this subject, and it has been suggested that this is legal boilerplate the aftermarketers must use to keep the feds happy, but I'd like something more concrete before I trash the system OR install a kit WITH the EGR functioning. I'd like to keep it, because it has never given any problems, but then again, I've been a good boy for 9 years. .

Thanks for giving this some thought!

You will get less HP than the non egr trucks, at least 20 less. The EGR will also cause soot to really pile up in the intake manifold over time. It plugged to vac port controlling turbo on mine. Oh' someone stole mine, that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

You can put a blockoff plate on it to disable it. But the intake horn is very restrictive. You are best off with a blockoff plate and a federal intake horn. Then put the old horn and pipe on if you need to later.
