I did a search on this, but was surprised that nothing came up.

Anyways... . I can't seem to make up my mind on which guage setup to get. I've been leaning towards the XM, but i'm getting cold feet for a couple of reasons. Besides... . gauge pods just plain look cool as far as I'm concerned.

My question... . Which guages would match my 04' the best??? Obviously I want white face, but I also want the lights and needle to match as best as possible.

I got the white Diprocols. Daytime, perfect match, night, very close, but I would put some green covers on the bulbs to look even more factory. I got the three gauge pod from Pro Pods, molded in a color to match the interior. I got mine from Diesel Power Products.

Hey Jengle... I'd like to look at your gauge setup, but alas, I'm way out on the "left coast. "... Oregon! We have similar taste though, and I am about ready to buy the same truck you have ... 3500 SRW HO except with the 48re and 3. 73s. I have 2 questions for you...

1. Are you happy with the color match on the A-pillar pod from Diesel Pwr Products? Matching color has been one of my concerns so it doesn't look like a scab job. And did you do the install yourself or have a shop do it?

2. If you don't mind, and this is on another subject, how did you manage to get the 3. 73 rear gears? Does that ratio come only with the manual transmission? I'd like that ratio with the 48re but can't seem to get that combo to come up on the DC site. It keeps rejecting the 3. 73 and returning me to 4. 10 ratio. The dealer I've been talking to has not told me the AT and 3. 73 rear are incompatible, so I'm puzzled by what I'm getting on the DC site.

Thanks for your input.

I'm glad to hear the combination of 48re and 3. 73 rear end does exist! The DC website is not all that user friendly in my estimation since I have been unable to get the correct combination to make the 3. 73s stick. I'd like to find "my truck" at one of the dealers across the country rather than depending on the local dealer. Does anyone know if there is any advantage to working on the net to make the purchase?

After looking for a vendor to supply my gauges at competitive prices, I found dieselmanor.com. I got the EVA line of Isspro, Pyro,Boost,Transtemp, and Fuel Pressure. All matching with red/orange pointers. I wanted to get everything from Genos, but they wouldn't order the fuel pressure gauge that I wanted. Diesel Manor / David Murray seems like a good guy. He also sells other lines besides Isspro he told me it would be two weeks to get my gauges since he had to order the fuel pressure gauge. I am passing this info along as I thought it would be useful to others. And the prices are very reasonable.

I am in no way afilliated with dieselmanor.com ... ... ... ... .

Good luck

The pro pods is a different shade than the original, but it is a perfect match to the other colors on the taupe interior. It looks like a factory install. The fit is great. When we put it in, there is one hole in it for a screw that goes where the upper one for the handle was. We didn't have to line anything up, it went right into the hole through the original cover, minus the handle, and started threading as soon as it was turned. There are no gaps and using the original cover and doubling them, we had no fit or finish issues. Also, doubling them like that, there are no wires to see from in front of the windshield. We did the install at a wrench session, most of the work done by two guys that have the same sort of setup in their truck. We did mine in a couple of hours, maybe three, stopping to eat here and there. Might have taken an hour and a half, if we had worked straight through. Hardest part was finding the right wire to attach to for the instrument lights, so they would dim with the factory lights. It is a different color than the 03s. I would have to pull the dash to find it again. I don't recall the color.

Holy mackerel!! I hope I don't have to pull the dash! I will have the taupe interior so sounds like color will not be a problem.

Jengle... did you do a step-by-step writeup and submit it to TDR on the installation of the intrument pod? That would be useful for others of us who want to do likewise. That would make you a real hero for some of us! :D

DMC... educate me on the use of the fuel pressure gauge. I find the boost, pyro, and trans temp useful, but don't know what fuel pressure does for you. Isn't that pretty constant?

I'd like to get with someone in the west who has done this gauge install. Anyone on the left coast done this?... especially in Oregon would be helpful.

I really like my Di-Pricols. I think that the match is as near to stock as can be expected within reason. The EGT gauge gives out more green light than the Boost gauge because it has an LED in addition to the bulb. I got the gauges and the moulded in color A-pillar two-pod mount from Geno's.

The fuel pressure gauge can help you determine whether or not your fuel pump is working to hard. Due to a restriction caused by dirty fuel filter/ pre-filter, bad fuel lines, water in fuel, overflow valve problems, or lift pump problems. The fuel pressure gauge can help you avoid being stranded by giving you advance notice of an engine that wont run due to a fuel related problem. For example low or fluctuating fuel pressure at constant rpm could be reason for concern.

Do a search for fuel pressure I'm sure quite a few posts will come up.

Good Luck

I did the install myself, got everything from genos. followed the step by step instructions that another great TDR member e-mailed me. I will see if i saved them a if you PM me I will send it to you or you can do a search for it.

:)

Real nice instrument cluster Dean. Did the new pod do away with the handle for helping those short drivers up? It does not appear in the photo.
