ok. Curious, I've read a few things here on TDR. But I have a few questions. here's hte data first.

stuff | 6000 miles old | 11000 miles old

iron 22 44

chromium 1 2

lead 2 6

copper 6 24

tin 0 0

aluminum 7 8

nickel 0 0

silver 2 6

silicon 5 8

boron 0 1

sodium 2 0

magnesium 15 14

calcium 3458 3648

barium 0 0

phosphorus 1017 1026

zinc 1313 1134

molybdenum 1 2

TBM 9. 19 7. 71

oxid 7 36. 0

nitr 10 23

f-soot 2. 25 3. 89

So the report (oil analyzers) suggests I have a bit too much soot in my oil :)

I understand that a jump in copper is ok, so long as the next time it goes down.

I've been doing 5000 mile changes (amsoil 15w-45) since day one. The first change went 6000 miles changed and tested (time reasons). the second one went 11,000 miles (since the first reports suggested I was ok).

The thing I didn't do is change the filter after 5000 miles. Maybe that's what I should do? I used the donaldson filter that they used to sell via amsoil, now it's the EA filter.

naturally if an oil sample has twice as many miles, it should have twice as many things in it.

I'm pondering getting htat by-pass system on the next oil change (and do a filter at 5000 miles.

with the new fixed edge box, I have a bunch more fuel to play with... this maybe be bad for the soot count.

Suggestions?

Do you tow much? How hard do you drive it?

I don't tow much at all.

I drive it hard, every now and then I'll beat the crap outa of hte truck for a few hours straight while crusing on a friday or saturday. .

Your Fe (Iron) and Cu (Copper) wear bears watching. The reason why I asked if you tow much is because slightly elevated Fe wear is normal with heavy towing.

Just so you know, with such a high TBN remaining you have PLENTY of life left on your oil.

What have your previous Fe UOA wear readings been?

them are the only 2 tests. . I started them on the 55,000-61,000 mile changed. I'll do them every change from now on.

Tho, the soot thing kinda worries me. but once I get a by pass, 'll start to sample and not change until I need to.

Untill them 10,000 miles and a filter every 5 is how I'll do it.
