Once again I've learned from a mistake!! After reading these forums and hearing time and again how important guages are, I procrastinated. There are always more important things, work (ugh!), weekends are for riding, when it rains weekends are for fixing all the things that get broken during the week. This past weekend I FINALLY decided it was time to install those pretty Diprocals that I had purchased from Genos TWO months ago! I bought this truck from a family member, the lift pump and injector pump were both replaced last February and about 18,000 miles ago so therefore I wasn't too worried. I was mistaken, after spending the most part of Saturday installing, fuel pressure, EGT temp, and boost guages, I fired the beast up and found to my dismay that something was wrong with the fuel pressure guage, I disassembled, I rechecked, I messed up my guage mount, I went to bed grumpy. On Sunday I was at the parts store and noticed a fuel pressure test guage, I spent another $18, to buy a guage to check the accuracy of a 130. 00 guage. Uh, guess what... they both read the same. Lift pump almost dead showing about 4 psi at idle. Checked the forums, got the part number, got a new pump at NAPA, installed it... 15psi at idle. Let me emphasize what has already been beaten to death... PUT A FUEL PRESSURE GUAGE ON THESE TRUCKS! Thanks for lettin' me vent. See ya'll, Greg

Great story. .

I just cant help it. Got to vent and post some frusteration over how bad Dodge has let us down on this fuel pump fiasco. They refuse to make it right and redeem themselves. I love my cummins, but at this point can't see buying another Dodge.

Yes, a fuel pressure gauge is a "must-have" item on these trucks.
