Which Smarty do I need for heavy towing? I don't need all the power of a full blown Smarty but I'm wondering about the ability to add fuel w/o timing. Any real difference.

I'm not sure if the Jr. has non-timing levels. If you don't want to add timing, you may have to buy the regular Smarty and just not turn it up.



Maybe someone else will chime in who has a Jr.

Maybe I should be more specific. Does the added timing cause any trouble when towing? I've used the Juice for the last 140K with no ill effects but I thought I remember reading something somewhere about the Smarty.

Too much timing I believe will create high cylinder pressure. I have more rattle with the Smarty, but to this point it has not been a problem.



I believe the added timing is what will get you lower egt's. I don't know where the line is between the right amount and too much.

I have had the Smarty Jr on my truck for 2 weeks now and so far it has been great. I have it on level 1 for economy to check mileage gains. My truck always had a light timing rattle from day one stock and with the smarty it has all but gone away. I do get a little more smoke when I put the pedel to the metal but the low end tourqe is much better and this is the 40hp setting. My egt's have dropped 200 degrees on a hard 30lb boost climb up the mountians. I have not put a trailer behind her yet but have to believe the egt drop will still be there. First tank I picked up one mpg. Going to try another tank full and then play with the other settings. So far I am more then happy.

I've recently switched to a smarty and have been towing with the most recent beta software. I've found it has as much if not more power than the juice had. The best part is when towing my temps are down a lot compared to the juice, with the revised boost tables you get a lot more boost with a lot less throttle input. This really helps out on hills while towing. As for jr vs regular smarty I'm not really sure, maybe bob can chime in.

Maybe I'm overthinking this. It could be that the Smarty has too much timing to stack it with something else that does timing. If that's the case, then a Jr would probably be OK.

The Smarty would work best for a stacked setup. If your running an interface box that changes timing you can set the Smarty up without added timing. Oo.
