Driving along and I hear "Click Click" ... The sound of the Doors locking and unlocking once in succession. No big deal I thought it could have been radio interference by Sikorsky. Driving along and several miles later Click Click Click Ding Ding click. Odd, Now locking, unlocking and now the dash lights come on gauges go nuts and the chime chimes twice. Now I am suspicious that something is about to ruin my day.

About 3 minutes later Ding click ding ding click etc and the engine shutting down after each dash chime I am throwing soot like the earth is on fire. and finally Ding and nothing ... . no engine, no dinging just my radio works and that is it. I come coasting to an eventual stop from a looong 6% grade from the ever loving top of the hill on the highway down to the exit ramp at the bottom of the hill, smoking rotors, and a tired foot from standing on the pedal hoping to God I stop. I did ... partially in the intersection of Whaley ave and the merrit PKWY off ramp ... . WHEW.

Now the key is in the forward position and the ignition and dash lights go on and off each in 5 second intervals with the doors lokcing and unlocking with each and every succession. All the time my dash needles going in a spastic pattern and of course my FASS going into super prime. I shut the key off and rant out a few shall we say "Choice words for the moment" as everyone gatered across the street is now looking at me wondering if my flight from whatever planet I came from was a bad one.

So I do a quick assessment of what is wrong and had made the cause out to be my alarm proccessor ... a Clifford alarm with "Intellistart". I can hear the distinct relay click that the proccessor makes when it supplies main power happening during this process. So frustrated I call a flatbed to my aid. I am in no way getting to the module out here.

An hour and a half later and of course at peak rush hour maddness I am in no way getting out of the truck to start "Working" on it to see what I can do. So I now sit in utter frustration when i get a call from the Flatbed driver saying he is continuing en route to me as he just blew out both front tires on the International (Adding insult to injury here) on a road construction plate and the on the road tire guy is just sending home the last few lug nuts (I can hear it in the background).

So he gets to me, brand new 22. 5" tires and all. Between two State police and the driver we get the dodge pushed out into the street so it can get on the flat bed. I hop out and close the door and I hear click click click behind me. Sinking into my mental abyss the "Millenium Falken" As may of you know the truck's name has just locked me out.

GOD SHOOT ME! So now the truck blocks the southbound side of Whaley ave and the exit to the parkway ... and the crowd that saw me land from intergalactic space travel now taunt me ... ahh life is good. So we get into the truck windows down now , load her up and have a nice $160. 00 ride back to home.

Now for the short version of all this:

Driving , door locks clicking, chimes chiming truck now dead and wont keep power on, Swear it's the alarm. What is it?

THE BOLT THAT HOLDS IN THE MAIN POWER CONNECTOR UNDER THE FUSE BOX UNDER THE HOOD BACKED OUT! ... . Thats all it was just enough connection but not enough to supply full power to all the relays to make things click correctly and make the truck run as normal. Not my alarm, not a bad battery connection, not a central timer module, just a lousy 10MM bolt.

It has a built in anti-strip mechanism in it so don't freak out when tightening it that you get the "Oh no I stripped it" feeling. So push downward with one thump on the connector assuring a solid connection while tightening the bolt so the bolt does not wase energy drawing things together AND holding it there. While you are at it if you are going to inspect it and Di electric crease the contact block be sure to disconnect the batteries first.

Save your selves folks and keep a 10MM nut driver in your trucks 5 dollars vs 160 is waaay better money spent.

I was in a Sikorsky SH-60B Seahawk flying to an air show in Canada. Get get close to the plant and both heading indicators start moving in opposite directions. Each compass card did a full rotation and come back on the correct heading. Happened on the way back also.

That was probably when Tim passed over you during re-entry from his home planet :-laf.

Sounds like a pretty good anti-theft system you have stumbled across for $160. 00.

Wellllllll... ... . i guess you will have to consult a lawyer and patent people. We have a number of loose people in government these days, maybe call the White House and/or Congress and ask them how they do it?. Glad you found it and it was that simple tho. As I was reading the post The thought going thru my mind was the Poltergeist movie and what the he** is causing this.

Dave

Tsk. . Tsk... Tsk... You know... You're over the weight limit to be on the parkway! At least you broke down in the nice part of town - it could have been I-95 :-laf Glad to hear you got it all straightened out.

BTW... Will this tip work for us "undervalved" guys??? :-laf:-laf:-laf
