Has anyone had any experence with the Yokohoma Geolander A/Ts? They look like they would offer good off-road traction, while being quiet, and lasting on the highway (40,000 warrantee). Any thoughts?

Geolander tires

Have a friend who has been running Geolander A/T for a few years, he has over 40,000 on his. They do work very good "off road" we hunt in West Texas and with alot of hills, mud and sharp rocks. If you got to 285. 75/16 add 5MPH to speedO.

I had 'em on a 2000 f350.......

Powerstroke, crewcab, winch bumper... heavy truck. I didn't like them at all, sidewalls were too spongy. Was like driving a boat down the road. Replaced them with my usual brand, Michelin LTX's, knew I shoulda done it in the first place.

If you want to try a set, try Discount Tire, if you have one nearby. I have a good relaitionship with them here in Abq, and they credited the Yoko's full price against the Michelins when I complained. They do look like a good tire, maybe woulda worked on a lighter truck.

How loud where they on the highway? How did they do on the snow and ice?

I think the 1st Gen rams are lighter than a 1-ton crew cab ford. I do have a 1/4" steel bumper though. I don't think sidewalls that are a little soft will be a big problem. They will soak-up some bumps on my stiff riding pickup. If I am hauling, I’ll just add some more air.

Where the soft sidewalls your only complaint? What load range?

tidbits.........

I didn't have them on long enough to see how they were on snow and ice. They look like they would do well, I thought. They aren't noisy at all, not louder than the stroker, anyway. That was really my only complaint, was that they were too spongy, and I didn't like the way they handled. If I remember right, max air pressure was @ 50 psi, and a Michelin LTX is 80. They may work for you, they are a good looking tire.

My money is on Michelins for best tire around on a heavy work truck. For playing, I have BFG Mud Terrains on my Dodge, and BFG All Terrains on my jeep.

The good thing about using Discount Tire is the road hazard, if you get tired of a set of tires, just have "accidents" and they get replaced for about 1/5 the cost of new.

:D

I am runing a set of 285's on my pickup ,have about 12000 miles on them and they have been good so far.
