does anyone make a bracket for attaching a york compressor to the 5. 9 12v? I am looking to put an onboard air setup on my truck and would like to know if someone all ready sells a kit. Thanks

Josh the 780 case backhoe had air brakes and a b cummins in it. Along with 24 volt starter. I may have a picture of it as I have a overhaul Manuel of the complete back hoe. Including the engine. good luck Jim

Does that compressor mount where our P/S pump is? I've heard the trucks that run our engine have the compressor there. I did some measuring and found the compressor won't mount there due to the motor mount being in the way. The Kilby's is a bracket that bolts to (from what I understand) where the alternator bracket is.

The air brake compressor on large trucks using the 5. 9 is in the same place as our vacuum pump. I don't know if there is room to change, but then you still need a vacuum source. I e-mailed On Board Air about our older engines; they said if you are a welder you can build your own bracket (sits on top of alternator)--that's what I plan to do. Good luck!

another option that I am tossing around is using a pto driven air compressor. Still trying to find a good application. Seems as though all the farm implement pto drive equipment runs at too slow of a speed to be used. I have heard that there are some frod dump trucks that have pto driven compressor but I haven't been able to locate one yet. Just another option I guess

Let us know what you find out for a PTO pump...

I looked into it... and quickly got discouraged. Seems like all of the pumps were WAY too big for what I needed... I don't need to run a jack hammer...

How would you go about routing the s-belt around a york if I welded a bracket to the alt bracket? It would need another idler somewhere wouldn't it? I wonder if I can get a serpentine pulley for my york from napa...

That's one of Kilby's great designs. They have a pulley that goes on the Alternator pully, with an additional pulley for the belt that goes to the Air Compressor. That I got from Kilbys as well as an air tank for the system. Very good stuff... I just wish they would make the bracket, that would save me some time.....

So it's an addition v belt between the alt pulley and compressor. We were just discussing that option not even an hour ago at my local napa store. They have the york goodies but not the clutch for the 8 band belt our trucks run. I looked lightly at kilby's page and only saw an S belt kit for the jeeps. They had the clutches from the same manufacturer that kilbys uses but they didn't have the 8 groove pulley listed. It would be so much easier that way. New bracket and new belt with No altenator slippage and no extra belts. I guess I can't have everything.

MSchoenheider did this to his 96. you might try PMing him I think he has pictures. It worked out nice. I plan to do it to mine soon as well.

He built the bracket himself and then get the new pulley for the altenator and then ran a v-belt to the compressor.
