Interesting Story

Augh S&#$--No internal TDR links Work!

I have never been ashamed of my name. I have always felt anyone who posted under a phoney name was trying to avoid responsibility. I think you have to be held responsible for your actions. JMO

Ken and Mark nice replys and thanks to all of the TDR Staff.

I have mixed feelings about Hammer's comments. I don't mind helping out non-members, if you help them out maybe they will join.

But than again "Why buy a cow when you can get all your milk free".

Do I want non members e-mailing me?

If they have problem with truck I'll try to help once with strong suggestion to join TDR.

If not truck related I don't need them e-mailing me.

I tell most Dodge/Diesel owners I belong to Dodge Diesel club, the TDR and tell them about the pro's on it. A few have joined.

If they have a known problem I tell them if they belonged they would of known about it and mite of stopped it before it became a big problem. Like stranded.

Mixed feelings????,,Mule,Since you have the passion for the rides we all have here, I'm certain you can get where I'm coming from on this,,There is not a day that goes by,somewhere in my travels across this great country, while at work driving truck or at play doing our local car cruises, that somebody doesn't drill me with questions about the dyno sheets laid in my rides windows and ask how I found all the power,, When I explain that my truck is a pup compared to alot of others here and how they can go about joining some are interested and some are "tire kickers",,I also can say that I have had an amount TOO MANY to count that say WHY PAY when I can get it for free,,That is the reason for my comments,I have no problem for helping others, makes me feel good to help others get the "power bug",But,on the same token When you ask these"non"members to join and get a resounding NO ,well FORGET IT,,I'd love to show you some of the "wonderfull" non member email I get at times, more bad than good and in this era of computers and internet I know this will happen,,If somebody would have told me about this site and magazine it would have saved me $$$$ in bad decisions,so I tell everyone I can, maybe it can help them,,So I am very great full to the administration for a wise decision and hope that we can eliminate the "tire kickers" ability for emailing us and I will gladly have my name and email address for those who join the most passionate site available for our beloved Rams,, I can understand the administrations frustrations with our qiuck fingers and no thinking at times, but,I'd say they can handle that easily and our names need not be here to do it,,Hide behind our user names,I'd say no,,I'd have to say that we are enjoying some amount of privacy, something this internet can seriously abuse,if we did not have it,,Any of those members who have emailed me ALL get my name,I do not hide from anyone never have and never will and will always take the responsibility for my actions,,So,misuse and abuse from some of these internet troublemakers,is all I'd like to see us control and if the only way is to limit the names and email addresses to members only then so be it,,One last thing and I'll quit being a so windy,,Ever wonder how many times your email address has been pulled off our site and posted other places by those who chose NOT to join and the result is LOTS OF INTERNET BULK JUNK MAIL,some of which you can never figure out how this ended up in your box... ... ... ..... Think about it... ... ... ... .

I dont see why this is becoming such a big deal here. We got some people saying they are proud of there name etc etc... ... . Thats not really the point here. If you want your name up and you are proud of it then use that as your "user name". 95% of us use different names. Are all 95% of trying to hide something? No, am I? No. Do I want my name displayed to the world?? NO!

Lets think about this, our name is up our Area that we live is up, our mods are up on our signature. How hard would it to be to look up a name in that town and know everything that is on that truck for the takeing?? I have put alot of money in my truck and I would like to not risk it anymore than I have to. And thats just 1 reason.

Bottom line I think we should have a choice thats all. Its not really asking alot I think. Just let us decide If we want our name displayed on the www.

Mike, I understand the problem with "Identity Theft", as it has happened to both me and my wife. Someone out there STILL has a driver's license in a state I've never held one, with my name and an address where I have never lived. The same with my wife. They have borrowed money, run up doctor bills, gotten a phone, written checks, and probably more things I don't know about yet, in my name and in her name... . And yet it's me and her that the collection agencies, police, and banks find and attempt punitive actions.

The bad thing is, I know how they got our information - the old fashioned way. The got into our house and went through our stuff. While we were in the process of moving, a few years ago, we decided to do a thorough inventory of everything, and we generated an entire truckload of stuff we pitched. While that load of junk (including, apparently, some of our old banking and other documents) sat in the garage in bags and boxes and otherwise just sitting there, someone went through it. We actually took about 2 or 3 weeks to move, since both of us were working and we were only moving a few miles. In the meantime, the garage didn't lock, but we were never concerned about anyone stealing garbage... yeah, right!

I'm not really all that concerned that someone find my name and use it... After all, if you need a name and address, all you need do is grab a phone book, and there you have thousands to hundreds of thousands.

There is little to no danger of anyone committing fraud because your name is here. The danger is far greater if you just eat at Subway and pay with your credit card (the slips have your entire visa number AND expiration on them... and your NAME, too!!!)

I would say that as far as a factual basis is concerned... there is little real danger... But that doesn't mean that personal preference is not important. I beleive it is. And further, I believe that if possible, we should respect your wishes. Those decisions are not up to me and you, however. Please don't worsen a bad situation with flames... Those do not help... And I say that based upon the conversations you're not privy to see.

Thanks

Mark
