I know you will.....

Ok question for a friend, he has nice power at half throttle but no increase when it's in the mat. Does he need delivery valves? Or is his Timing off? Or is there something else it could be?

His truck is a shoot... . 95 I think with 160 k. Auto, has a TC & VB can't remember which one, he has 215 injectors, Jannetty's stage 2 plate, pump has been worked. I think those are the mods he's done. He is thinking about installing delivery valves to solve the problem. Do you think that is the problem, and / Or will this solve his problem. P. S. his truck does not blow any smoke even when mated.

Always check fuel pressure when power is down. With out proper fuel pressure fuel delivery is inadequate for higher power levels. May not be the problem but a very easy thing to check.

Good Luck

RADIXER, give me a call at 604-853-9396. There are a couple different reasons why your power is down after installation of the gov kit. But none of them requires a lot of work to fix, just a little fine tuning that I'm sure I'll be able to help walk you thru.

Wow maybe you won't help.... ;(

Ok check the fuel pressure... ..... Anyone know what is normal fuel pressure for his truck?

Darren

Mine is about 25 when running down the highway, I think any thing above 20 is ok, my last truck had 5 and ran fine until the speed got up then the power was low, stretched the overflow valve spring so it measured . 550 and the pressure went up to 25 and the power came back.

I found out this is when he started having a problem as well... ... .

Did you call Piers? Was he able to help you?

Yes, I called Piers.

He gave me two suggestions. Check that the shutoff solenoid is not binding and that the cam follower is not diving under the torque plate. You do that by watching the cam follower as you manually move the throttle lever. When you get to about 3/4 travel, the follower should be coming up to the plate, not diving under. As soon as my aching back permits, I am going to check that. If it does go under, there is an adjustment that will correct it.

The fact that this has happened to someone else makes me optomistic that the solution to my problem is near. Piers, you are the best!!:) :)

Here is Pier's email response to an initial inquiry I made to him:

Hi Dave,

There are several possibilities, here is what I would do. Seeing how you have the 215hp pump, you should only have to use two of the gov springs per side, not three. Is your cam plate in the correct location? What position is your afc housing? The 215 pumps have lighter governor weights in them, so they don't need the extra springs. You'll still be able to pull 3500 rpm with just the two springs. The other thing to check for is the location of the arm that hits the cam plate. With the engine off, afc housing off, look into the hole & move the throttle linkage to about 3/4 throttle. Where is the arm hitting, if it's too low it will go under your cam plate, then as rev's rise it can't climb over like it should and therefore gets stuck underneath the plate, causing a low power situation.
