I am almost 100% sure I found my shudder problem that I got after installing a 6-speed in my '98 12 valve. I'm sure many of you will remember me posting a while back about all my troubles. Well after reading a bunch of stuff on the net about driveline angles and buying an angle finder I went to the shop and started checking stuff out. I have been messing around with shims for some time now trying to find the angles that worked best and have been mystified as to why my truck had problems but two other trucks just like mine worked fine with the same setup. Well as I was laying there looking at it all it finally jumped out at me. When the driveline shop shortened my driveline they welded the very front yoke on 90º out of phase with the next joint. I have even thought about this and looked at it before but for some odd reason I missed it. I can't correct it myself because the splines will go only two ways and that is 180º either way and I need 90º so back to the driveline shop I go. This is a large well known drive train company too based in Denver Co. Sure would like it if I could get them to pay for the $800 transmission check over that was for nothing :{

I will let you all know if this indeed solves my problem.

i would be in the middle of the counter and VERY LOUD while i was back in there. show them the reciepts and tell them of all your trouble. then remind them you belong here and can easily let us ALL know who did this to you and where WE should not go anymore. there are a lot of us that have four wheel drives and rock crawlers the new of this could spread the gamit quik.

No go

Well I spoke too soon. Today I got my driveline fixed and it didn't solve the problem. The more I thought about it later on the more I wondered how it would solve it since it was 90º off and not some place between that. Oh well now it's back to the beginning I guess and more checking of angles and wondering why me.
